Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor is the next big defence infrastructure that is being setup in six nodes which have been identified viz. Agra, Aligarh, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Kanpur and Lucknow.

Earlier this year we saw opening of Kalashnikov plant in Amethi, which falls under UPDC. Now Dassault's announcement of setting up a Unit.

The Defence Corridor project was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lucknow during the Investors Summit last year, the project is expected to have at least six nodes along Lucknow-Agra and upcoming Bundelkhand Expressways.

I'm wondering if all defense corridors could be covered on a single thread, including Tamil Nadu defense corridor and all other. But then we have Indian defense' industry and exports watch thread.

I think individual threads would make more sense because then we can easily access specific information regarding investments or development in a specific corridor.

This is all well and done but the proof of the cake will be in the Eating.

Corridors are usefully as supply chains are close to each other and to end user. and Supply Chain is only worth talking about if quality of execution remains.

The most successful "corridors" in India have been the Auto Sector and the IT sector. The main reason was that the private (read pan national/global) companies were allowed to invest and do work unhindered by government interference. (whether red tape / corruption / roping in crony businessman for a quick buck)

But am a bit skeptical about this due to the location of UP is too close to chini border. In case of war, its too close to defend from chini missiles. And if this corridor is not going to help us in real war time then whats the use of it.

In ww2, the chinis shifted all there defence manufacturing 'corridors' away from japs occupied land border to the mountains. The purpose was to 'create space and time'. Very Very important in war times.
