...silly posturing by the United States Government, threatening Thailand, along with what might be the most idiotic US Ambassador ever, anywhere.

US Ambassador Kristie Kenney has unilaterally alienated millions of otherwise friendly Thai citizens. She makes us look like buffoons with her daily tweets, childish videos, selfies, and missives with jewels such as describing how she woke up late.

Folks who have followed my work for many years already know that my outlandish claims today end up being truth a few years down the road. Please take this not as a caution, but as a Warning: The United States Government -- using Ambassador Kenney as its point-person -- is severely damaging relations with Thailand. You might not see it yet, but I surely do. I deal with many of the top people in this country, and spend time every day with average people. They are angry. And they are right.
US threatens to cut $10 million aid to Thailand (not a joke)

Thailand has always been a very pro US country.

It was a R&R site for US troops in Vietnam.

There are many Americans with Thai blood, prominent amongst them being Tiger Woods.

What the US is doing does not in anyway help the Thais and it will be one more friendly nation that the US will alienate.

It is unfortunate the one wonders what makes the US always back the wrong horse i.e. the corrupt, the inept that the country, which the US targets, loathes.

The Democratic administration is most short sighted and Kerry is the biggest handicap that the US and its President could have selected.

The US President should wake up or else the US will be a Lonely Nation in a Friendly Planet.

It is indeed lonely planet, Sir, and every nation has to fend for itself.

Coming back to the US, the President, the Secy. of State, etc., are the faces we see. What we do not see are the powerful cabal running the show from behind the curtains.

Country flag
They need to make more provinces and develop more political leaders like our "chief ministers" in their Parliamentary democracy. Otherwise a Presidential democracy would be more suitable since there is preference for concentration of elected leadership and not representation of elected leadership. This is a case-in-point only for Thailand they need to look for a permanent solution that keeps troubling them over and over again.

Pentagon cancels drills, visits following Thailand coup
The US Pentagon has called off its ongoing military exercises and scheduled official visits after the Thai army seized power in a military coup on Thursday. "While we have enjoyed a long and productive military-to-military relationship with Thailand, our own democratic principles and U.S. law require us to reconsider U.S. military assistance and engagements," spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby said in a statement, reported AFP. Thursday's coup, which took place after several months of political turmoil, has sparked international concern over the country's domestic politics. "We will continue to review additional engagements as necessary until such time that events in Thailand no longer demand it," Kirby said.

Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn is said to be a hedonist.

It's a fellony to defame the royal family.

Thailand: A Coup, the Crown, and Two Middle Classes | The Diplomat
As King Bhumibol's health fades, his charismatic leadership will soon no longer be a source of legitimacy for those who have prospered under his reign. The fear of losing hard-won privileges to the rural masses is a very real one for the royalist elites, sections of the military and many middle-class Bangkokians. Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn, who has a controversial past, is unlikely to gain the respect his father could take for granted. The monarchy will be unable to provide legitimacy for an unequal capitalist development that merely trickles down to rural Thais but does not have their interests at its heart. Changes in people's aspirations and a distinct "Thai spirit of capitalism" have already prompted a gradual reorientation away from the religious values that underpinned Bhumibol's reign. Thailand is in an unenviable position having to cope with such tectonic shifts. But such is the nature of regimes that depend on one man. Once a monarch dies, the future is up for grabs.
