rudresh = There were no flying machines thousands of years ago. Please try to read some standard book. It is unfortunate that we have to resort to myth-making in order to feel proud.

the old facts about india is about true practicality and the experiments with them.

there is no such habbit for atleast few indians to unduly take credit for the country. atleast if u think about the advanced mathematical and physics knowledge and the previous research about the metallurgy .......u will not think so....

the old books are scattered few things have been lost and most of such are not able to be understood by the common man.......and few have been intentionally destroyed but it dosent make india or indians not to feel proud.

what i try to say is indians are not far behind to be called as third world by americans or any one for that matter just see how they take indians into their sooo called prestigious institutions like NASA,LM, BOEING etc etc ...

if we cannot understand or recognize the old things no problem (no one now exist atleast now it is all about few sacred men or women) because neither any of us were alive at that time the glory belong to them and no need to exaggerate as myth making. its just about indian bloodline that can make it again if the opportunity called for it

I can trace my family line back to the "saintists" who made these super planes. Awesome isn't it?

My great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great Grandaddy wrote all the 4 vedas too. Perhaps I should copyright them under my name as the rightful heir.

If our ancestors could invent Number System, Plastic Surgery and Steel then they were capable enough to build something which could fly. Europeans saw the light at the end of the tunnel after they started to believe in their legacy, started to feel proud of their ancient knowledge (Renaissance). When British captured India, they destroyed our self-esteem, made us believe that everything came from Europe, their philosophy is superior, we still believe.

Let us not forget:
Us= 3500 BC to 17th century
Europe= 17th century till now

We will rise again.

why still boasting about the past if indeed we were much better then why was it Britain that colonised us and not vice versa. Past is gone time to build the present that is now what can and what is being done.

That is not boasting, that is being proud of your legacy. Future can only be built over the strong foundation provided by the past. Let us not forget about Arab conquest in Europe, go a bit further down the history and u will be reading about the mayhem created by Gengis Khan and Huns. We must talk about both, the golden era and the period when we flunked miserably.

Don't forget that these very Arabs and our neighbours are still stucked in their past glory so instead of building a better present they are whining about their so called lost glory.

US doubts HAL's capability

India doubts F16 and F18 mmrca winning capability.

MORAL OF THE STORY: IF U PLAY WITH INDIAN SENSITIVITIES..............U LOSE THE MATCH. THE BRITISH LEARNT IT CENTURIES AGO i.e lessons from the history.

That is still what irks me. And from common man to the richest they all believe foreign products/service/thoughts/fashion to be superior.

Arabs are not exactly stuck in the past. They have had pretty forward philosophies, I mean heck, socialism and communism found a home in the Middle East till the Americans started funding the right wing Islamists. Even now, the amount of oil money Arabs are spending on building up their countries infrastructure and preserving their language and traditions, they are anything but stuck in the past!

As for our neighbours. Don't know what gives you that impression that they are stuck in the past! These chaps dream about pre-British Islamic rule over India and dream of going back to the pre-British days. They just forget that more than half of their country was ruled by the Sikhs before the British arrived. That is not called living in the past, that is called living in mythology.

If HAL is that inappropriate why then did any US companies bother to submit a response to the tender ? And if a US company was selected ? then all of a sudden HAL wouldnt be 3 decades behind ? Im in favour of US-India ties and so the comments from Ambassador Roehmer really dont help besides being illogical .

Those comments were certainly never meant to be public. His job is to lay a framework of what US strategic and industrial goals can be achieved, what was said simply implies whoever won is going to have much work to fulfill the contract.

It is rather ironic that India invents the number 0 and high grade steel while the specialisations of modern India are IT ( numbers 1-0) and high grade steel. European legacy comes from the Roman Empire and their assimilation of Classical Greece, it is the basis of Western Culture. That culture spreads to every corner of the Earth, people relish it and want it because it is synonymous with prosperity and freedom. By the time India becomes prosperous, it will have already assimilated the tenets of that culture by doing away with much of what classical India still believes, caste system par example. We can already see the effects it is having in China, the more prosperous they become, the more Westernised they want to be, spread of Christianity par example. Of course these civilisations will still retain an identity of their own, but Western influence cannot be denied. India rising is another step in globalisation which is Western based.

The real point that US is not comfortable with TOT and licence manufacturing of F16 and F 18

India is manufacturing at least Two thirds of Su 30 components here at home and assembling the remaining imported parts

Su 30 MKI is definitely an advanced plane

Moreover when the tender was first released it was clear that after the first 18 planes the rest would all be manufacture here

Indian engineers have tremendous capacity for absorbing new knowledge

SO manufacturing Rafale or eurofighter here would only add to our knowledge and capability base

Vaimanika Shastra is a hoax. It's such an obvious hoax that it's not even funny.

Indian civilization has accomplished much for the whole world to see. There is no need to take pride in mythology and science fiction, when we have actual achievments to take pride in.

WoW... feeling proud about mythology is all you have to hang your hat on? Why don't you open some of those ancient texts and shoot yourself to the moon?

Leave it bros, we are not discussing any mythology or conducting any historical research, we have forums to do, lets stick to the present scenario of M-MRCA , however I like to see Rafale in IAF colour.

What :rolleyes:

Let's see your logic here. According to you, Western culture = prosperity and freedom = spread of Christianity. Okay.

Unfortunately, the Haitians and Chadians and numerous other peoples who are today Christians are the poorest people in the world. Ironically, both Haiti and Chad (just two examples) are former French colonies. Apparently the "light of glorious Western civilization" did not reach these people, despite being ruled by colonialists for centuries.

With the rise of India and China, the world will not see a spread of Western culture but a resurgence of Eastern culture, which has long been subdued due to low levels of development. It's about time too, as the spread of Western culture has been one of the greatest calamities to have occurred in the history of mankind.
