this has nothing to do with F-15 being bad just to learn more about sukhoi weaknesses and exploit them.

Russians, pride is all they have left.

Well compared to us they are still a world power, it always seems like they really miss the soviet days.

Russians have been selling to anyone and everyone so this was bound to happen and will probably happen with other weapons too, Chinese buy a small amount of Russian weapons and reverse engineer and sell the rest cheaper than the russians so the Russian arms market will be getting smaller and smaller in the future.

Well its ukraine, so the russians did not sell anything.

Ukraine has no defence industry all they have are some soviet systems and factories left, when the time to go on to the next generation comes, they will have nothing left to sell.

So the time is now, they will sell anyone anything, China, Pakistan, USA etc. etc. and hope they money they get goes into developing something of a future for the industry.

Remember Israelis stealing the MiG 21 from Iraq in 1967. This helped them to find out the weakness of MiG 21 and how the Mirage can effectively defeat them. It is usual. The Americans have already brought MiG 21s, MG 23s, MiG 29(Moldovian) and now the Su 27. No big deal. This has been happening for years now. Everyone knows the F 15 is no match for the Su 27 when flown by equally capable pilots. The F 15 rules in long range combat but in close in fights the Su is better.

Why waste money over a cheap copy of the Su 27 when you can get a real one? And I dont think anyone will buy the J 11B ever.

US buys Su-27 fighters from Ukraine for ‘aggressor’ training
Air Force News — By RIA Novosti on May 13, 2009 at 6:12 am

MOSCOW: The United States has bought two Su-27 Flanker fighter aircraft to help train U.S. air force pilots to cope with the growing number of 4th-generation Russian aircraft sold around the world, a U.S. online magazine said.

The two aircraft have been bought from a private Ukrainian company by the Reno-based Tac Air, which provides training and test support for the military.

The fighter jets will also be used to test the effectiveness of new U.S. radars and electronic warfare equipment, the Strategy Page reported.

The 33-ton Su-27 is similar to the U.S. F-15, but costs some 30% less, the source said.

Su-27 fighter jets have been produced in Russia since 1982. They are still widely used in the Russian Air Force and are gradually undergoing maintenance repairs to extend their service life.

The Su-27 Flanker and its variant, the Su-30 Flanker C, account for a major share of Russia's arms exports. In the past, Russia's Sukhoi aircraft maker sold Su-27 and Su-30 fighters to China, India, Malaysia, Venezuela and Algeria.

In 2007, Sukhoi exported 50 of these aircraft, accounting for 50% of Rosoboronexport's export revenues.

According to U.S. sources, the two aircraft, which have been acquired in a commercial variant, stripped of weaponry, are being overhauled and modified by the U.S. Pride Air company.

J-11A is a licensed copy of Su-27,but J-11B is a different generation fighter with improvements. Why do you think that anyone won't buy that?Unless china does not put it for sale.

    About the article,well its biased.

Different generation?...you got to be kidding me right. I dont think J 11B will even come close to 4.5 generation fighter. It is a pure 4th gen fighter.

Pakistan buying J-10 or J-11B is a distant dream. They are purchasing the JF-17s on soft loan, and their credit limit is reached I think.

true but they still have an unknown radar and engine delivery to wait for, they are the only ones taking the cheap way by buying chinese, most countries with any or little brains would rather spend a little more and buy a proven quality plane.

The question is how do you define 4.5 generation.
