Guys,
There's no need to use proxy servers or VPN (Virtual Private Network). Both are slow. And, btw, VPN is hell costly and not provided to individual homes, only for Corporates, mainly IT companies.
Here's a trick, but before that let me explain a few things.
1. Domain Name : When we type an URL, for example say –
Google into our browser (and hit Return), the browser is directed to the server(s) of Google which serves us back - the webpage of
Google. Same is the case with any/ALL(s) other websites. In internet parlance,
Google is called the Domain Name.
2. DNS (Domain Name System) : Say, anyone of you want to launch his/her website, for reasons varied as business, personal, forum – you need to register the name, buy server space and then host it, all of which costs money. So, you come up with an interesting name for your website like for example say "xxxxx", which translates to
www.xxxxx.com. So,
www.xxxxx.com is your Domain Name. The hosting provider then provides you with an IP Address, such as 192.168.0.1
This IP Address 192.168.0.1 is the address of the server which hosts the website, your website -
www.xxxxx.com.
Example - In the internet, when you type
www.xxxxx.com in your browser and hit Return, the DNS Server translates
www.xxxxx.com into 192.168.0.1 and you get back
www.xxxxx.com in your browser.
Basically, Domain Names serves as a phone book in our memory. Tell me, is it easier to remember the big boobed Neha or just Neha? Well! It is easier to remember
Google, then to remember 173.194.66.94. And in this age of millions of web portals, it is not humanely possible to remember all IP Addresses of the websites we visit on a daily basis. And mind you, the example is for IPv4. IPv6 would be herculean to remember, considering it is of the format 2005:900:77:300::10
www.xxxxx.com and the IP address associated with it are just for learning purposes. They won't translate into anything. But, do try out 173.194.66.94
Now the trick: Say
Google is banned in India
1. Go to this websitehttp://www.hcidata.info/host2ip.cgi
2. Under the heading "Convert Host Name to IP Address or Vice Versa", and under "Host Name" type in
Google
3. Now, click on "Find IP Address"
4. Copy that IP address into your browser and hit "Return".
5. Voila, you are done!
6. Try this trick with 173.194.66.94, and see the results for yourself.
Most websites work with this trick (for example exbii). But uploaded.net won't work with this trick. Why not, and how then can we access uploaded.net? Maybe some other time!
