Joh McCain Calls For Invasion of Hong Kong

U.S. Senator John McCain called for the invasion of Hong Kong today in response to recent leaks about secret surveillance programs.

In an interview with BBC World News, the hawkish Republican said that by hosting the leaker, Edward Snowden, Hong Kong has proven itself to be an enemy of the United States.

"Either you're with us or you're against us," McCain explained to anchor Freddie Lyon, "and clearly the nation of Hong Kong is against us. By harboring this known cybercriminal they pose a clear and present danger to the American people.

"I don't want to hear about extradition or rendition or any of that nonsense. This man is a traitor and if we don't get him within 24 hours I say we need to start bombing the hell out of Hong Kong.

"Luckily this is a tiny country with no real military to speak of. I don't expect any resistance. We could probably destroy their infrastructure and occupy the entire country by the end of the week."

No wonder that he lost his presidential compaign in 2008.

New Revelation: Cisco Systems Inc Responsible for China Hacking | eChinacities.com

Former CIA employee Edward Snowden has revealed that Cisco Systems Inc's controversial "Prism" program has been used by the US National Security Agency to monitor Chinese internet networks and computers.

Cisco has allegedly been involved in the monitoring of China's government, customs, postal, finance, railway, civil aviation, medical and police sectors among others. Prism was also being used to monitor networks in China Unicom and China Telecom as well as other telecommunications operators.

Cisco makes over 1.6 billion USD from the Chinese market, 30% of their total profits. Given the recent revelations involving Edward Snowden, their business in China may suffer.

US Has Been Spying on China for Years According to Edward Snowden | eChinacities.com

Edward Snowden, the ex-CIA agent who recently exposed the United States' National Security Agency's top-secret surveillance programs, has told the South China Morning Post that the US government "had been hacking into computers in Hong Kong and [in China] for years", in an exclusive article published by the Hong Kong paper on June 13. Snowden, who is now sought by the US for treason and disclosing state secrets, is believed to be staying in a safe house in Hong Kong.

In the interview with the Morning Post, Snowden claims that the US has been hacking computer networks around the world for many years, carrying out some 61,000 hacking operations globally including several thousand in China alone. Among the targets were universities, businesses and public officials. In revealing the cyber attacks against China, Snowden hoped to illustrate "the hypocrisy of the US government when it claims that it does not target civilian infrastructure, unlike its adversaries".

irs very interesting to note the timelines here........Skype came onboard after Microsoft acquired it in May 2011, Apple a year after Jobs` death (am sure Steve would`ve told the NSA guys to take a hike across the Mojave desert). wonder why Google signed up only in 2009 and what it got in return :)
google must have got more data in return, what else they want. Data and more data.

There's no proof Snowden has anything to do with China. Perhaps you know something all of us don't?

Big shots like Cisco or Google are no doubt having a hard time in China now. But that's just reciprocal for Huawei or Sany being barred from the US.

Top powers spying on each other or cyber espionage is nothing new. But I hope both US and China (G2) can sort it out amically. Anyway the rest of the world is big enough for adventures of both.

---- Snowden, seriously. The entire world should be focused on China's hacking, not America's. America hacks for freedom; China hacks for oppression.

What we need is to browbeat China into terminating all its hacking, and giving US agencies free reign over its networks. Then China should give up Xinjiang, Tibet, inner Mongolia, Manchuria, Hong Kong, and all its nuclear weapons, and let US companies own its major industries, so as to fairly repatriate the illicit gains China has made in recent years from currency manipulation and IP theft. If Chinese citizens are impoverished in the process, so be it - they should seek redress from the evil Communists who led them into that blind alley, while signing over their firstborn children to the noble West.

Then, and only then, can we consider letting China be called a full and responsible member of the international community. (Of course, we won't do that until they've all converted to mainline Protestantism as well, and accepted partial responsibility for the right of Israel to exist.)

NSA leaker Snowden on flight to 'third country' via Moscow with WikiLeaks help

Hong Kong authorities have said NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden is on his way to the Russian capital in a bid to elude the US extradition order against him. However, RT sources report that the former CIA contractor is already in Moscow.

The US has filed an extradition order against Snowden for espionage, theft and conversion of government property.

A spokesperson from the Hong Kong government confirmed that Edward Snowden had "legally and voluntarily" left the country.

"Mr. Edward Snowden left Hong Kong today (June 23) on his own accord for a third country through a lawful and normal channel," said the Hong Kong government in a press release. The statement also said the documents for Snowden's extradition submitted by Washington "did not fully comply with the legal requirements under Hong Kong law."

"As the HKSAR Government has yet to have sufficient information to process the request for a provisional warrant of arrest, there is no legal basis to restrict Mr. Snowden from leaving Hong Kong."

A source from Aeroflot told Interfax that Snowden is on flight SU213 to Moscow, landing on Sunday afternoon.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin was unaware of Snowden's plans to fly to Moscow.

It is understood that Moscow will not be Snowden's final destination, he could potentially fly on to Ecuador or Iceland where he has allegedly applied for asylum. A diplomatic source told the Russian news agency Itar-Tass that no request for asylum in Russia had been received from the former CIA employee.

Citing a source close to Snowden, Russian news agency Interfax reported that the whistleblower's final destination will be Venezuela with a transfer in Havana, Cuba. He will reportedly be on flight SU150 to Havana, leaving Moscow on Monday and then on flight V-04101 to Caracas.

"He chose such a complicated route in the hope that he would not be arrested on the way to his final destination of Venezuela," the source told Interfax.

Too much drama is no fun, sir.
Have nice day, thank you.

Such rhetoric of "freedom" or "oppression" is for different audience's consumption.

Nobody is that naive nowadays

Snowden departs Hong Kong for a 'third country,' government says - The Washington Post

The US threatens Hong Kong with revocation of its precious status as a "haven of the rule of law", so Hong Kong gives the US the finger by putting Snowden on a one-way flight to Sheremetyevo. ----in' brilliant

It's so sad that people are focusing more on him than on the policy that is spying on them.
