It is important for China to have Bangaldesh in its sphere of influence.

Bangladesh can play a very complementary role in case of a conflict with India in the eastern front.

I would not be surprised if China share the technology for a nuclear bomb and rocketry with Bangladesh, as they have done with Pakistan.

Bangladesh can have locally built frigates with a much better quality as we're the world's major ship-builder. All we need is jst the technlogy for warship-building. Maybe the US or China would help us with that one.
While Bangladesh's ship building capability is improving, but I think it would not be a truism to state it is world's major shipbuilders.

What Bangladesh will do with 2 frigates?

Sri Lanka which is an island nation and fought bitter war against LTTE, even they did not have Frigate class ship.

WUHAN - A new-type of frigate built for the Bangladesh Navy was launched in the riverside city of Wuhan in central China's Hubei province on Tuesday.

The frigate, with a displacement of 1,300 tons and maximum speed of 25 knots, is 90 meters long and 11 meters across the beam. It can accommodate 80 crew.

It will be the most advanced frigate in the Bangladesh Navy, which will be a boost to its coastal defense capability and the China-Bangladesh friendship, said Rear Admiral Syed Abu Mansur Arshadul Abedin, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff at the launching ceremony.

The frigate can detect, identify and destroy surface and aerial targets and can also carry out maritime monitoring and patrols, and search and rescue missions, said Cai Libin, deputy general manager of the Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co. Ltd, the builder of the frigate.

It is equipped with 76 mm and 30 mm naval guns as well as ship-to-ship and ship-to-air missiles.

Bangladesh has bought two frigates from China. The first was launched in November.

Every country has its own Threat Analysis.

Bangladesh too has one.

That is why they are having a Navy and not depending on any other.

So, there is nothing wrong in their having frigates off China.

Chinese frigates must be very cheap compared to other countries.

It would be foolish not to buy frigates that are cheaper than those offered by others.

This is bad for India not because these corvettes will be used in a confrontation against India, but because the Chinese will equip these two with surreptitious surveillance equipment that even Bangladesh isn't aware of, to spy on Indian maritime movements in the Bay of Bengal. These two are essentially two really big Chinese buoys.

Unrealistic to think China could bug a ship without Bangladesh knowing. Any ship randomly spying without being at the right area at the right time wouldn't be very useful. Any bug would eventually be caught and then it would really hurt China's reputation and relations with Bangladesh and make it difficult to sell weapons to anyone in the future.

Business is business, lets not worry about the sale to Bangladesh, China probably offered them a good deal that met their needs. Every nation in South Asia is going to play against India AND China. It is the benefit of all small nations to gain as much as they can from both sides, which is why it is important to try and avoid competing with China to win over small nations.

Bugging exports to foreign nations is not an unheard of thing.
