My concern is that India has been pussyfooing strong and at times adverse remarks emanating from the white house for some time now. This is not the first faux pas from Trump over India(remember the remark about India building libraries in Afghanistan). The US president is the fountainhead of the US administration and hence we have to treat his remarks at face value and respond in kind. We heard remarks by President Donald Trump in a meeting with Pak PM that he is ready to mediate if requested by India & Pakistan on Kashmir Issue.

Strangely, or not-so-strangely, US seems not to be too concerned about souring ties with India or for that matter anyone else due to Trump's verbal diarrhoea.

I'm certainly not calling for a break in ties, but it's time to reassess our engagement with the US. What have we received for this administration, end to trade concessions,new tariffs, threats of sanctions over the Iranian oil and now this. India used to be a country which could tell any great power where to lay off, I'd like to believe that we still are that country.

There's much more than meets the eye with Trump's statement. Balakot has rattled many power centers, including in the Gulf. No one wants to see India evolving from meek, dossier power to a bully arm-twisting his way through.
