These have been the guests in Modi's reign:

2015 President Barack Obama United States
2016 President François Hollande France
2017 Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan United Arab Emirates
2018 Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Brunei Ten guests (Heads of ASEAN states)
Prime Minister Hun Sen Cambodia
President Joko Widodo Indonesia
Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith Laos
Prime Minister Najib Razak Malaysia
State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi Myanmar
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte Philippines
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong Singapore
Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha Thailand
Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc Vietnam

As you can see, Vietnam was already included last year.

Who's missing? PUTIN. Wish we had invited him, so he can see all that Russian hardware in action.

Many other options (not including Abe because he was chief guest in 2014):

  • Netanyahu
  • Rouhani + Ashraf Ghani + Sheikh Hasina (that'd really get Porki panties in a twist)
  • Moon Jae-in (why not? his bromance with Modi is quite something)
  • Central Asian leadership (we need them for raw materials, would be good to have them on board)
  • Australia + NZ leaders (we need them for the quad, and India-Australia relationship has room to grow. They're reeling from all the Chinese infiltration into their political system, this would be a good message).

South Africa is...meh. That country is sorta doomed, as @Tibarn has said above.
