This thread is for each member to post his pick of the three most important events of the year 2016. Each of these events can be good or bad events, as long as they are the most important in the opinion of the poster.

1. Donald Trump’s victory in the US Presidential Election.
2. Russian, Syrian, and allied forces liberating Aleppo.
3. Unsuccessful coup d’état in Turkey.

1.Various Attacks in J&K (Pathankot,Uri etc.) and our Reply to them.
2.GST bill passing.

For International Context

Anyway as far as global impact goes, my list would be:
1. Trump's win.
2. Intensification of conflict/terrorism in greater Kasmir region and in the countries playing the game there (IND, PAK, CHN, AFG//USA)
3. Assad's strengthening.

Bonus:
1. Dueterte
2. DeMon
3. Rouseff's impeachment
4. Right-wing movement in Europe.

It had the potential to be in my top three until the poor follow up from the government afterwards let all the build up fizzle out.

It would be wiser if we categorise top 3 events of '16 under various topics like Geopolitics,Sports,Science and Technology,Arts,Movies and TV shows,Recent deaths (oh my...too many great lives were lost during this year ) etc.
Why ? For the sake of 'Ordnung'...

1. Americans reaffirm their commitment to being a multi racial society with through the election of multicolored Presidents ..... white, black and now orange.

2. For the first time Britain leaves something which is not its colony ..... now time for Scotland to leave UK.

3. khawaji Asif (MoD pakistan) against all odds remembers how to keep his mouth shut. Kudos to surgical strikes. He now prefers to spout nuke threats against Israel over fake news.
