Tell that to the OPCW . They said Assad was responsible for Khan Sheikhoun attack in 2017. A sarin attack.

Of course Russia did not like it. They like asking for international probes but when the results are not good to their taste they say the inspectors are wrong. How pathetic.

Syria attack: British submarine 'hunted by Russian subs' in deadly cat and mouse game
A ROYAL Navy submarine heading towards Syria has been hunted by up to two deadly Russian subs and a number of other vessels in the Mediterranean for days as tensions between the countries ratchet up, it has been revealed.

The British crew found themselves involved in a “cat and mouse game” with at least one of the Kremlin Kilo-class subs, dubbed the “Black Hole” because they are so stealthy.

Two frigates and an anti-submarine aircraft were also involved in the hunt, the Sunday Times reported.

The Tomahawk missile-equipped £1.2billion British vessel had been moving to within range of Syria when it found itself under threat.

It then spent days trying to avoid detection by the Russian force.

The British sub was 'hunted' by Russian forces

US Navy forces tried to protect the waters around the underwater ship as it passed beneath the waves, with aircraft bussing overhead to offer cover.

Kilo-class submarines are among the deadliest in Putin’s arsenal.

Powered by two diesel generators and an electric drive they can move silently underwater at speeds of up to 17 knots.

They can be equipped with a range of deadly weapons including cruise and anti-ship missiles.

The British submarine was Astute-class and hunted for days
Following the tension-filled encounter, the British Astute-class submarine did not take part in the attack on Syrian chemical weapons facilities.

The Royal Navy’s Astute submarines cost around £1.2billion each and have been commissioned by Britain since 2010.

Nick Childs, from the International Institute for Strategic Studies said submarine commanders were trained not give away their position by firing too many missiles at once.

I've warned you about these kind of incidents.

I bet the intention was not to sink the vessel but to scare the shit out of folks in the capital assets.

Next time things might be different.

No one knew what the Russian response was going to be. Our forces came ready for a fight.

The Shamshir site west of Homs was supposed to be the Euro strike zone also using TLAMs from the Astute submarine. When the Russians detected the Astute before it was within range the Americans had to cover with their own TLAMs. The Astute had to go to silent running to try to shake the tail and couldn't go fast enough to get into position to launch. The only failure of the mission was the detection of the Astute and its subsequent inability to launch its missiles on time. France was ready with three FREMMs to cover but being too embarrassed to ask us they asked the Americans.

The Royal Navy destroyer HMS Duncan was moved away from the attack zone as French ship the Languedoc fired at Syrian targets...

A military insider said: “It was America and France’s show. We were very much second fiddle.

“And that’s down to the fact we weren’t as capable as them.”

Everything looks Rosy as long as nothing serious happens.

It might have turned out to be a huge embarrassment for British and struck fear in the coalition (America-Britan-France)

What were your thoughts when Russian war planes with Anti Ship missiles buzzed over the French war ships.

In case of America & Russian confrontation the second & the third fiddles of both the countries take the hits.

One thing about the fight that cannot be avoided is losses. As a veteran you should know more about it, don't you!!??

If Barracuda was in the place of Asture, you wouldn't have responded "saying French played a second Fiddle".

Coming to the intervention of any of the three FREMMs.....

How good are they in terms of anti submarine warfare!!?? How does their sensors fare when FREMMs want to hunt the "Black Hole".

I think you don't know the story of how Kilo class subs got their nickname "Black Hole".

After Krasnodar sub has fired it's missile salvo and enroute to it's home base through Mediterranean Sea, USS George Bush along with 5 warships, M60 Seahwaks, Poseidon and some Italian anti sub planes(no info on what they're) couldn't find even after calculating the possible resurfacing points couldn't locate it. The hunt went for weeks.......

Only a fool would think that French FREMMs would pickup a sub which US flotilla along with Poseidon couldn't locate it for weeks.

But there is one problem i.e. the "scenario" in both cases are different. In the US hunt case the primary objective of the "Black Hole" is to hide while in the Britain case the primary objective is to scare Asture and prevent it from engaging the Missile attack.

If FREMMs had come to rescue of Asture, at least one capital ship would be sunk and the Russians would leave without getting noticed.

On sending FREMMs to rescue Asture from the "Black Hole", I have one thing to say.... Never send sheep to kill a Wolf (quote from Wanted movie)

I respect veterans(irrespective of their rank or country).......

No offense @Armand2REP , I believe you were at the NCO cadre during the time of retirement. If you're at the officer cadre then you know nothing about naval systems.

Add two more :

Syria is a secular country in comparison with its neighbours.

Syria is a Shia majority country.
You are totally wrong. Syria’s majority is sunni, not Shia. Check some history and geography before posting such falsehood.

OPCW inspectors still denied access to site of chemical weapon attack. Something to hide ? Russians were able to access the site days ago.

EDIT : btw OPCW confirmed British findings in the Skripal Case. Novichok clearly identifed. Funny heh.

We know exactly how much full of shit the West was in this attack, many missiles have been intercepted

No French missiles shot anyway. If Syran defences around Damascus were so successful, they should be able to show lot of wreckage from the Tomahawks. Where is the wreckage ?

OPCW can't find their own ass end let alone conclusively prove Assad was behind any of the gas attacks.

In reality, those Gas attacks even look fake, they were probably staged with actors.

Well, clearly many missiles were shot down, perhaps including French ones. We know exactly how reliable French news is.
