Btw, those of you who are interested in particle physics, there is an opportunity for you to visit the particle accelerator(LHC) at CERN. The main tunnel of particle accelerator is closed for maintenance and upgradation for 2 years. So, it is a nice opportunity to go down and see the real work that went behind discovery of Higg's boson.
Some pictures that we took:
The detector in open condition. It is here that all the collisions take place and sensors pick them up. This detector has a 50m diameter and the tunnel is located almost 100m below the ground.
The protons are accelerated in different accelerators before they are sent to the LHC.
