The Indian Navy's brand new Krivak-II class stealth frigate arrived off the coast of Mumbai today to join the Western fleet. The ship sailed from Russia to the UK and back via Oman. Except it is not Kashtan CIWS.
It is 2 x AK 630 CIWS

I don't think any front line ships are planned to be decommissioned in the near future.
Rajputs and Godavari class should be the next i guess but may b not before 2020.

Yes sources say that.
But we have seen so many pics n videos of both TEG and Tarkash.
it is Ak 630/640 rapid fire gun but not Kashtan.

So are these ffgs specialised for aaw/asw or are they intended to be a jack of all trades?

Multirole frigates.
They excel in every department :thumb:
but ya not soo good at AAW though.however they can always protect themselves from any aerial threat

Another Q: Do these FFGs have any intended role as carrier escorts or are these solely the responsibility of the P17/17A and P15/15B?

Dont know about ships but we certainly could fit them near loc.
Any terrorist found in its crosshairs wont need no cremation.
And if the rangers decide to get naughty,he he he....
Also i would request the IN to loan one to the bsf in indo-bangla border,would be a good live testing ground.
