Mumbai: The Indian Super League is set to roll again with the bidding process of the much-anticipated IPL-style football tournament starting from Monday.
IMG-Reliance, the tournament organisers, will be floating a tender through 'Invitation To Bid' documents, inviting bids for nine cities across the country from which eight franchises will be finally selected. The league was to begin in January but had to be postponed owing to scheduling problem and lack of a window.

Promising to revolutionise the sport in the country, the league has the backing of All India Football Federation, and is likely to see big names such as former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke, former Argentina striker Hernan Crespo and former England forward Michael Owen.

The nine cities in the reckoning are Bangalore, Chennai, Dehli, Goa, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. "International Management Group Worldwide and Reliance Industries Ltd.'s joint venture in India, 'IMG-Reliance', together with Star India Pvt. Ltd. today announced its plans to commence the bidding process for Indian Super League clubs through 'Invitation To Bid' tenders starting Monday, 3rd March 2014," IMG-R said in a statement.
"The ambitious Indian Super League ? an unrivalled football championship to be staged from September to November 2014, will foster local talent and feature international stars with the aim of making the game one of the country's flagship sport," it added.

"Off these nine cities, winning bidders for the top eight cities will be granted the right to own and operate a new football club and participate in the Indian Super League." Ernst & Young, the advisory firm, has been entrusted the responsibility of evaluating the bid documents, following which the winning participants will be announced by first week of April.
Not only English Premier league players but players from Spanish La Liga, Bundesliga and Italian Serie A should participate. League players from South america should also participate.

But you forgot PSG. Zlatan has already scored 40 goles and is just behind Ronaldo, He is in top form.. Cavani has returned.. Lavezzi and Locus are in top form.. They are also capable of winning..

BTW Bayern has more chance of winning since Pep Guardiola already knows everything about Real and Barcelona.. This puts Bayern in front position

PSG may have a chance against Chelsea in Quarter-finals but they are no match against the might of spanish football.

We need the likes of Pep Guardiola so that India can remove the dominance of Kolkata football clubs in Indian football.

Zenit Job Offers Villas-Boas a Chance at Redemption – Winterburn

MOSCOW, March 22 (R-Sport) – Coaching Russian title challengers Zenit St. Petersburg offers Andre Villas-Boas a chance at redeeming his reputation after it was tarnished by unsuccessful spells with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, former Arsenal and England defender Nigel Winterburn has told R-Sport.
Villas-Boas, 36, was unveiled as Zenit coach Thursday, replacing Italian Luciano Spalletti, fired earlier this month after a poor run of form. The Portuguese boss faces his first game in charge Monday with a Russian Premier League clash against Krylya Sovetov Samara at home.
With Zenit out of the Champions League after a 5-4 aggregate loss to Borussia Dortmund, Villas-Boas has said his first priority is to take Zenit, who are second in the RPL, to their first Russian title for two years.
"I think Villas-Boas now, he really needs a club that will allow him to work in the way that he wants to work and probably give him two, even three years to establish himself back as a good young coach, because his reputation has been damaged," Winterburn told R-Sport in a recent interview.
Villas-Boas won the Portuguese title and Europa League in 2011 with a Porto side that included Brazilian striker Hulk, now a key player for Zenit. After leaving Porto, he lasted just eight months as Chelsea manager before a 17-month stint with Spurs, leaving "by mutual consent" in December with the London side a lowly seventh in the league.
"He came with a very, very high reputation to England and I think that's been damaged with how quickly he was fired by both clubs," Winterburn said. "You can say he was fired unrealistically, he was fired too quickly, but I think Zenit is a club now that he needs to stay and he needs to be given time to show what he can now do."
R-Sport understands the 36-year-old's contract is worth 8.5 million euros a year, a sum Winterburn described as "huge," making the Portuguese coach one of the world's best paid managers.
On Friday, he said he had turned down an offer from Olympique Marseille to join Zenit.

India women's football team grabs 50th spot in FIFA
rankings

New Delhi: India's women football team moved one place up to grab the 50th spot among 175 nations in the latest FIFA ranking. The team also grabbed 11th position in the AFC ranking, moving up one spot. It is the second time that the women's football team has come up in the top 50 since the inception of rankings in 2003. The team last played matches in May 2013 for 2014 Asian Games qualifier losing against higher- ranked Myanmar and Chinese Taipei and gained one point after drawing with host Palestine. Earlier this month, the AIFF mooted the plan of hosting women's I-league from 2015. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Assistance Programme which was held in the second week of June in New Delhi took major decisions like organising regular training sessions and more number of competitions for the women's team. AFC has also decided to host workshops for training women referees and coaches. The team will be taking part in the women's SAFF Championship at Pakistan in November later this year.

Nope, not injured. Passed the medical test. But we will sign another striker. Most likely Loic Remy . Di Marizo confirmed CFC has agreed a deal with him which is as good as official confirmation.
