The 'baby box' returns to Europe

Boxes where parents can leave an unwanted baby, common in medieval Europe, have been making a comeback over the last 10 years. Supporters say a heated box, monitored by nurses, is better for babies than abandonment on the street - but the UN says it violates the rights of the child.

Well if people are going to leave babies on the steps in the cold, atleast its better to leave them in warm heated boxes for collection later.

But this is like treating the symptoms rather than the disease

What happenned to Europe's morality?

Oh wait...
In many jurisdictions in the US for a long time, infants may be left at fire stations or other municipal facilities in the same manner.

Ok what happens to the babies later ?

Would they be raised under state's care or they would be up for adoption by issue-less parents ?

It is better than murdering them. India must adopt the same system to save unwanted girls.
Call me cynical - but taking away the life of the infant is relatively better than abandoning it and let it grow on the streets enduring all the untold miseries.

1. There is no scarcity of childless couple in this world. Such people can adopt these kids and raise them as their own.
2. One doesn't become a parent just by giving birth. Many biological parents abuse their own kids Mercy Killing is an extremely controversial topic, and we must not justify the killing of somebody as delicate as a newborn under any pretext. Tomorrow we can say that it is better to kill a physically challenged person so that heshe doesn't have to suffer in this cruel world. Life is precious. Sometimes past matters less than the present, and wound of abandonment can be healed by loving adoptive parents, friends.
