I really don't want any other nation to be assimilated into India.
Not Nepal for very good reasons. Let them remain in poverty but in peace rather than under the shadow of Islamic bombs ! Maoist bombs are better than Jehadi bombs.

Its better for Nepal to stay separate. India already his its own Maoist problems that it doesn't need theirs. As many mouths to feed as India does, it doesn't need more. More importantly it is good to have a buffer state on most of the border with China.

that thinking to leave it in limbo, is quite narraw, IMHO. Historical / cultural /ethnic entanglements, as many of u have pointed out, are there btwn India and Nepal. Therefore their poverty / instability for sure will have spill-over effects on India. Nepal is not only a buffer zone, but also a market for goods and investment. And many states in a similar situation e.g. Mongolia, Afghanistan, and Central Asia Stans, being landlocked, have turned out to be arenas for big powers. Now China is gaining a 'first' mover advantage in NP especially in its phase of transformation.

we need a buffer zone between India and china so that two powers can be kept at a distance. just think even a smaller tibet gaining independence and taking away the physical contact between India and china.

Nah....... I'd rather have Antartica, no increase in population but lot of resources to dig in. We better start finding some historical links:lol:

Leave them where they are, there is nothing like Hindu Brotherhood, yet i'll welcome them if they come to us, but will suggest them to maintain their status as a Hindu State, so that they wont have to face the extremism of some religious groups here.

The article reflects the growing acceptance of our economic might, if nothing else.

Also, we have so well molded diversity into Indian psyche that the world is attracted towards us. Obviously, we do not stand to gain much if we let them join us except having Mt. Everest in India. But Nepal stands to gain a lot by joining us. Although, they are free to travel or work in India even now but opening up the borders completely would bring in far more economic prosperity to the entire nation. Not to forget the fact it would open up the whole of Himalayans for tourism as a single unit from which both India and Nepal stands to gain(and tourism is an upcoming sector).

But the effort should come from there side. Plebiscite is the way to go.......

Ramro cho?

There is no need for India to annex a piss poor state with maoist idealogy flowing from roof tops. We need to maintain the status quo, while minimizing Chinese equation.

India and Nepal relationship is a complex story.
Forget all what stupid people have written,
The matter of fact is that;
*

Nepalese are fiercely independence and freedom loving nation.

They are fiercely loyal and patriotic.

They are utmost brave and soldierly.

Nepal is a beautiful admixture of Hindu and Buddhist cultures of Indian origin

In spite of what they say, they like and love India.

Nepal was, is and shall remain independent and proud of herself.

Communism or Moasim is as much an Indian phenomenon there as it is Chinese.

Nepal, geographically is and shall always be part of India rather than Tibet or China.

Largest numbers of migrants in India are from Nepal and vice versa. Chinese can never replace Indians in Nepal.

Nepalese are less Maoisists than many Indian are.

Nepalese are closest to Indian in all respect and it is for Indian state to ensure their progress.

This is stupid idea at least. Why should Napless people compromise their national identity? And why should we encroach our most friendly nation? We are one despite being divided by Border. No need.

As far as I can tell, there are no historical or cultural reasons in the list of 10.
