The Telangana State Police (Telugu: తెలంగాణ పోలీస్, Urdu: تلنگانہ پولیس),is the law enforcement agency for the state ofTelangana in India. The Telangana State Police has jurisdiction concurrent with the ten revenue districts of the State which is headed by an officer designated as the Director General of Police who reports to the State Government through the Home (Police) Department. The police force was created from the basis of the Andhra Pradesh, when the Telangana state was formed.

Sub-Divisions.
Each Sub-Division is headed by one Police officer of the rank Deputy Superintendent of Police (Officers of Telangana Police Service, a directly recruited officer or one promoted from the ranks) or an Additional Superintendent of Police (Officers of Indian Police Service).

The officer who heads a Sub-Division is known as SDPO i.e. Sub Divisional Police Officer.

Circles.
A Circle comprises several Police Stations. An Inspector of Police who heads a police circle is the Circle Inspector of Police or CI.

Stations.
A Police Station is headed by either a Sub-Inspector (lower subordinate rank) or an Inspector (an upper subordinate rank). A Police Station is the basic unit of policing, responsible for prevention and detection of crime, maintenance of public order, enforcing law in general as well as for performing protection duties and making security arrangements for the constitutional authorities, government functionaries, representatives of the public in different legislative bodies and local self governments, public figures etc.

Commissionerate.
A police commissionerate is a law enforcement body especially in the urban parts of the state. The commissionerate is headed by a Commissioner of Police.Hyderabad City Police is the local law enforcement agency for the city of Hyderabad.

And Recently Govt.of Telangana has Proposed Commissionerate for Warangal Urban,Karimnagar and Khammam.

Ranks.
The Director General functions from Police Directorate, located in the DGP headquarters in Hyderabad. He is assisted by a team of senior officers from the ranks of Additional DG & IG of Police to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG - a post equivalent in rank and status to the Superintendent of Police).

Telangana Police launches Interceptor Vehicles in Hyderabad to foil armed attacks.
Hyderabad: With a view to respond quickly to any law and order contingencies especially in the event of armed attacks, the Telangana Police today launched 'Interceptor Vehicles for Armed Intervention' here.
These vehicles will be stationed at important strategic locations in the city equipped with an armed component of four personnel with bullet proof jackets and will be on duty round-the-clock and will have high-tech communication equipments.

Telangana Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy, speaking after flagging off 17 Interceptor Vehicles in the first phase under Hyderabad Commissionerate jurisdiction said 25 more vehicles will be soon launched under Cyberabad Police limits.

"It is envisaged as yet another people friendly exercise through Community Policing and to achieve the ultimate vision of secure and safe Hyderabad city. The idea is to inculcate a sense of confidence, solidarity and security among the cross section of Hyderabad public at large," the minister said.

Referring to 2008 Mumbai terror attack, wherein scores of innocent lives were lost, Reddy said, "Keeping that in mind, armed police with Interceptor Vehicles is launched."

He said state Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will shortly lay foundation for construction of an advanced Central Control Room on 8 acres here which will keep a watch on any incidents in 10 districts of Telangana.

Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma said the Interceptor Vehicles with armed personnel will be very useful in taking immediate action in the event of extremist, terror or any armed attack incidents.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy said the main objective of this force is to attend to the needs of people under grave life threatening emergencies and to prevent the occurrence of crime, so that quality of life of the people in the city will improve and ensure safe living conditions and build a crime-free city.

These vehicles will be monitored by the Command and Control Centre of Hyderabad City Police, he added.

Organisation for Counter Terrorist Operations.
Organisation for Counter Terrorist Operations (OCTOPUS) is an elite counter terrorism unit of the state of Andhra Pradeshin India.
History.
On 1 October 2007, the Andhra Pradesh cabinet approved the formation of OCTOPUS. On 13 August 2012, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy inaugurated the OCTOPUS headquarters. Before this, they had been based at a makeshift headquarters. On 16 November 2012, tenders were invited for the supply of a sample jet pack unit to the OCTOPUS. Plans have been made to acquire more jetpacks in the future.

Organisation and role.
About 100 OCTOPUS personnel have been deployed at the Tirumala Venkateswara temple to oversee the temple security.

Glock 19 Pistols.

• The Glock 19 is effectively a reduced-size Glock 17, called the "Compact" by the manufacturer. It was first produced in 1988, primarily for military and law enforcement. The Glock 19 has a barrel and pistol grip that are shorter by approximately 12 mm (0.5 in) compared to the Glock 17 and uses a magazine with a standard capacity of 15 rounds. The pistol is compatible with factory magazines from the Glock 17 and Glock 18, giving the Glock 19 available capacities of: 17 rounds (standard magazine with +2 extension), 10, 17, and 19 (standard Glock 17 magazine with +2), and the 31 (standard Glock 18 magazine with +2 removed) and 33 rounds of the Glock 18. To preserve the operational reliability of the short recoil system, the mass of the slide remains the same as in the Glock 17 from which it is derived. With the exception of the slide, frame, barrel, locking block, recoil spring, guide rod, and slide lock spring, all of the other components are interchangeable between the models 17 and 19.

Colt 9mm SMG.
The Colt 9mm SMG is a 9×19mm Parabellumsubmachine gun manufactured by Colt, based on the M16 rifle platform.
Design details.
The Colt 9mm SMG is a closed bolt, blowback operated SMG, rather than the conventional direct impingement gas operationof the standard 5.56×45mm M16 type rifle. As a closed bolt weapon, the Colt SMG is inherently more accurate than open bolt weapons such as the Israeli UZI.

The overall aesthetics are identical to most M16 type rifles. Changes include a large plastic brass deflector mounted toward the rear of the ejection port. Factory Colt 9mm SMGs are equipped with a 10.5 inch length barrel and have an M16 style upper receiver, which means they feature a fixed carry handle, no forward assist and A1 sights (with 50 and 100 meter settings). The magazine well of the receiver is modified using a special adaptor to allow the usage of smaller 9mm magazines. The magazines themselves are a copy of the Israeli UZI SMG magazine, modified to fit the Colt and lock the bolt back after the last shot.

Current Colt production models are the RO635 which features a Safe/Semi/Full Auto selective fire trigger group and theRO639 which features a Safe/Semi/3-round Burst selective fire trigger group. Both are equipped with a 10.5 inch length barrel. The 633 was a modified compact version with a 7 inches (180 mm) barrel and simplified front sight post used by the DEA.

The most common model is the 635, the latest version of which are simply marked SMG 9mm NATO.

Franchi SPAS-15.
The SPAS-15 is a dual-mode 12 gaugecombat shotgun manufactured by the Italian company Luigi Franchi S.p.A..
Design.
The weapon is based on the SPAS-12, and has similar pump-action/semi-automatic firing modes. In semi-automatic mode a gas piston drives a bolt carrier and rotating bolt. In pump-action mode the same components are driven by sliding the fore-end backwards. Pump-action mode is required to reliably fire low-pressure (less lethal) ammunition such as tear gas rounds or less-lethal bean bags. Switching between firing modes is done by pressing a button above the foregrip, and sliding the foregrip slightly forwards or backwards. The barrel is chrome lined and features screw-in choke tubes.

Unlike its predecessor, the SPAS-15 is fed by a detachable box magazine. The gun features a folding stock and a pistol grip safety. Amongst Italian troops the weapon is known by the nickname "La Chiave dell'Incursore" (the key of the commando) because it is used to blast the locks of closed doors.

Legality.
In 1994, the United States banned the importation of the SPAS-15 with close to 180 shotguns imported, but later abolished the relevant regulations. In Canada, the SPAS-15 is classified as a Prohibited Weapon and cannot be legally owned or imported except under very limited circumstances.[3] In Italy the SPAS-15 is not subject to any kind of restriction for sale, purchase or possession, and despite no longer being in production it is still fairly common on the civilian market.
