DELIVERIES OF BRAHMOS AIR-LAUNCHED MISSILES TO INDIA AIR FORCE MAY START IN 2019

Deliveries of air-launched BrahMos missiles for the Indian Air Force's Su-30MKI fighters may start in 2019, BrahMos spokesman Praveen Pathak said Tuesday.

"One more test on a ground-based target is planned for the end of the year - November-December.
After that, deliveries of weapons will start, we have already received the order from the Air Force, so we are waiting for the completion of this test," Pathak said on the sidelines of the Army 2018 defence industry forum.

BrahMos, the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile created history on 22nd Nov 2017 after it was successfully flight-tested first time from the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) air superiority fighter aircraft Sukhoi-30MKI against a sea based target in the Bay of Bengal. The missile was gravity dropped from the Su-30 from fuselage, and the two stage missile’s engine fired up and straightway propelled towards the intended target at the sea in Bay of Bengal.

The development work related to the Air launch version of the missile is complete. Work has also been successfully completed with Sukhoi design bureau, HAL, and the IAF for interface requirements and installation of BrahMos on SU-30MKI.

Two aircraft was earmarked by the IAF for the initial launch trials. The first Su-30MKI fighter aircraft modified for BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was handed over by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to the CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace on 19 February 2015 during Aero India show.

The SU-30MKI has a maximum speed of 2 Mach with a single in-flight range of 3,000 km. A total of 8,000 kg payload can be carried by it in a maximum altitude of 17 km.

The multilateral Exercise Pitch Black 2018, Australia’s premier air combat exercise, was its largest edition to date. Forgot to mark this important part:

The performance of the latest Russian systems in Western air exercises have usually been restricted to avoid revealing their full characteristics, as had been the case for the IAF Su-30s’ previous participation in such events. However, according to both Anand and Sodhi, the full air-to-air capability of the N011M Bars radar was used in the exercise, this being the first time it had been done.

Indian Air Force (IAF) will test fire an advanced version of the supersonic BrahMos Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) before the end of 2018. IAF has already started the process of mounting BrahMos on its frontline Sukhoi Su-30MKI air superiority fighters and the plan is to integrate the cruise missile on 40 jets.

Super Sukhoi is an independent program. It is about upgrading the existing Sukhoi fleet instead of new purchase. MMRCA is all about new platform.

Mig-35 should also be a part of it IMO.

we note
that these jobs are apparently also being carried out in the order of the proposal for the upgrade of the Su-30MKI fighter on the Super-30 program for the Indian Air Force
Well primarily it's obviously the effort to combine logistics of the Flanker fleet and at least the early Su 57. Wouldn't be surprised if they go for the same engine on the Su 34 as well.

India Initially wanted an upgrade of the existing engine, but just as the radar selection, nothing was fixed so far.

Instead of watching YouTube videos, you should have checked the manufacturer website, then you have found this:

You also should know, that Russian Su 35 for air shows are often Su 27M prototypes, or original Su 35 with the same AL 31 engine and TVC as the MKI, while the Su 35S , or BM has the modernised AL 41 engine with the mentioned multi axis TVC.

Btw 2D would be the TVC of the F22, which moves vertically up and down along the yaw axis. The MKI TVC moves diagonal in a V shape, to gain yaw and pitch control. The multi axis TVC of the AL 41, works independent for each engine and as the name says, in different directions.
