Considering that it fires a 5.56mm can we suppose that it will issued as a frontline weapon to our troops, like the M4 carbine?

MSMC is a replacement for aging WW2 Sterling 9mm carbine, MSMC will be issued to Officers and JCO and driver etc who are manning the 9mm carbine in Army ..

MSMC use 5.56 x 30mm rounds which are half the size of 5.56 x 45mm used by INSAS AR, though MSMC can hit accurately to 200ms .

Just to clarify in a typical IA squad the composition is like what?

Officer gets SMG and Troops carry INSAS.
What about LMGs?

Excellent. Since this weapon is actually meant for the Indian Army it also has a good export potential to other friendly countries.

Wow...Finally? I wonder why all our trials...starting from Arjun mk2 to a mere sub machine gun like MSMC takes soo much time..

Anyways, better late than never. Maybe it could be a successful export too!

I love this, it is light weight (since i have lifted it easily with one hand) this is going to change the way we fight CQB, i always feel for those guys as they dont have proper rifle or carbine. Good job DRDO, now just induct this in greater number with our forces.

awesome news, this should be the standard weapons for both law enforcement (police units) and for many in the army. Time for a massive order.
