China's most advanced fighter jet, the J-16, has been revealed online in flight, the latest in a series of news items on developments in the Chinese military since last November.

An image of the J-16, a 3.5-generation multi-role twin-seat fighter jet, was posted on the China-based Dingsheng military website Friday along with other types of Chinese fighter jets, such as the J-11 and J-15.

The J-16 shown online was believed to be a prototype of the jet fighter because it carries the serial number "1601."

It marked the first time that the warplane was shown in flight.

Military analysts speculated that the plane should still be in the test-flight stage.

Some Chinese netizens said the plane is undergoing tests at a People's Liberation Army flight test and training base in Hebei province in northern China.

The plane was developed by Shenyang Aircraft Corp for the use of the PLA Navy's aviation corps.

A Shengyang Aircraft executive was quoted by Chinese media as saying recently that the J-16 could rival Russia's Su-35 fighter jet.

Military analysts said the J-16 was an improved version of Russia's Su-30MKK. It can carry a maximum load of 12 tons of bombs or missiles, including YJ-62 and YJ-83 anti-ship missiles.

Previous media reports said the J-16's navigation electronics were much better than those on the J-15, and expected the new jet to gradually replace the J-15 in maritime battles.

The posting of the J-16 image followed a number of high-profile reports on PLA-related activities since the end of the third plenum of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in November 2013, at which a new generation of leaders assumed power.

One of the stories drawing the greatest attention was China's new aircraft carrier — the Liaoning — making its first long-distance voyage to the South China Sea on a testing and training mission.

Other milestones to be highly publicized were the test-firing of the land-based Dongfeng 41 multi-warhead intercontinental ballistic missile and the test-firing of the submarine-launched JL-2 missile.

-LOL...please ,not again,....please quote something decent from some decent source...
another BS with loads of mistakes.it can't get the basic facts correct.

the first clear pic of J16 prototype released by an senior military enthusiast on 1st Jan to celebrate the New year.
J16 is a Airforce Project. and Navy Aviation hasn't be able to get the hand on it yet. ..

A rare photo of the J-16 1601 prototype approaching the CFTE airfield before landing is shown here. It was first rumored in August 2010 that 601/SAC are developing a 3.5 generation heavy multi-role fighter bomber for PLAAF based on J-11BS. The aircraft can be viewed as an upgraded and indigenized version of Su-30MKK (see above) based on its mission and capability, which is comparable to American F-15E. First flight was rumored to have taken place in late 2011. Several prototypes were built. Like Su-30MKK, J-16 features a retractable IFR probe on the port side of the nose to increase its range. As the result the IRST/LR systm was offset from the center to the starboard side. The aircraft also has twin nose wheels due to increase of the TO weight. J-16 also has tandem seats with a WSO sitting in the backseat. Its major improvemnt is an ASEA fire-control radar inside a gray radom with dedicated AG modes. A new ECM system may have been installed as well. Like J-11BS, it is also powered by two WS-10 turbofans. Besides PL-8, PL-10 and PL-12 AAMs, it could also carry the same precision guided weapons being carried by JH-7A, such as KD-88 ASM and LS-500J LGB. Compared to JH-7A, J-16 is expected to have a more powerful radar (AESA from 607 Institute?), a greater weapon load (8t) and a longer range (4,000km). Since spring 2013 at least two J-16 prototypes (1601 & 1603) have been seen undergoing tests at CFTE, including carrying a new PL-10 AAM. Recent news (October 2013) suggested that the first batch of pre-production J-16s is preparing to enter the limited service with PLAAF.

Funny that you should call someone a "kid" or "childish" when you are embarrassed by a question. Did Russia transfer the tech for the green paint as well? If there is something original about this out and out copy - the least I would expect is a change of paint color. If that makes you feel ashamed and lose face, it's tough shit, for you. My being chiildish makes no difference to that fact. Even a child can see that the wheel color is the same.

Chinese engineers managed to copy an Indian motorcycle and at last painted it slightly differently. Can't your engineers at least do a Pakistan and change the paint color? Your taller than tallest mountain, deeper than deepest ocean, sweeter than honey ally Pakistan paints Chinese equipment in different colors and calls them "Pakistani technology". Better to import such Pakistani tactics rather than the polio and terorists you now import from Pakistan. Your are not even changing the colors of the copy and calling it original.

another stupid statement without logic and basic knowing about history and simple fact...

For some strange reason the Russians paint their wheels olive green. That is replicated in licence built Indian Sukhois. But why have the Chinese copied the same color. The wheels are - you guessed it. Green
since your logic is simple ...MKI's green wheel is due to the " licence ", then we needn't waste our time here, just answer:

Do you know that the Licence contract between Russia and China to assemble and manufacture 200 odds Su27SK with TOT in China signed in 1995?
is this the history and truth?...

-----------
don't bring more stupid and ignorant BS here to save your 'own' face....
