South Africa seems to be no different. Last year the top student at Public schooling for grade 12 (last year of school) was a South African of Indian origin . The top student in private schooling last year (grade 12) was also a South African of Indian origin. These results are produced inspit of Indians forming about 2% of the South African population. This recieved little or no media attention, and gives the idea that thses accomplishments are best placed on the back burner in lieu of good race relations.
