Jackie Chan's jet arrives for Singapore Airshow 2012

In its first public appearance since delivery to the international movie star, Jackie Chan's Legacy 650 will make its debut at the Singapore Airshow 2012.

Singapore Airshow 2012, which takes place from February 14 to 19, 2012 at the Changi Exhibition Centre, is Asia's largest and one of the three most important aerospace and defence exhibitions in the world.

Identified by its distinctive 'Dragon' livery, Jackie Chan's jet is also the first Legacy 650 to be displayed at the Singapore Airshow.

It sells for about US$30 million (S$37 million) and is on route to being delivered to the movie star.

As Embraer's Brand Ambassador, Jackie Chan will assist Embraer in promoting its entire line of executive aircraft, not only in the rapidly growing greater China market, but globally.

"I chose the Legacy 650 because its large three zone cabin, offering incredibly quiet performance and luxury," said Jackie Chan.

"I am honoured to join the Embraer Legacy 650 family of users. I believe that Embraer is poised to become a major player in the Chinese executive jet market and thrilled to fulfil my role as brand ambassador for this great Company."

Having only entered into service in 2010, the Legacy 650's advanced technology, outstanding performance and intelligent luxury, have made it an award-winning jet.

It was crowned "Best of the Best" in the large executive jet category by Robb Report in 2011, and in 2012 was named "Best of the Best" by the Hurun report, one of the most widely recognised indices tracking the rapid growth of China's high-net-worth individuals.

"This delivery is a moment of historical importance to Embraer because it solidifies an already long and successful relationship between China and Embraer," said Ernest Edwards, President, Embraer Executive Jets.

"To have the first Embraer Legacy 650 in China go to Jackie Chan, a world-renowned movie star, business man and philanthropist, illustrates how the cutting-edge technology, comfort and productivity of this aircraft allow operators in China to travel throughout the world with more efficiency and ease."

The Legacy 650 range is 3,900 nautical miles (7,223km) affording such nonstop distances as Beijing to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Hong Kong to Adelaide, Australia, carrying four passengers.

Its state-of-the-art cockpit includes the Honeywell Primus Elite avionics suite, greatly reducing the pilot workload and enhancing safety.

With three distinct cabin zones, the Legacy 650 is the only jet in its class with this level of comfort.

Advanced Wi-Fi technology and significantly reduced cabin noise means the Legacy 650 ensures an environment in which passengers can work or rest.

It includes a fully equipped wet galley and the largest in-flight accessible baggage compartment, something Embraer is known for.

In addition to Jackie Chan's delivery, Embraer received orders for 13 Legacy 650s from China's Minsheng Financial Leasing Co, Ltd, one of the country's leading executive jet leasing companies.

Embraer will present its largest fleet of jets at this year's Singapore Airshow.

Making their debut at the Airshow are the Embraer 190 (E190) commercial jet, the ultra-large Lineage 1000 executive jet and the large Legacy 650 executive jet.

Embraer will also be showcasing its Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 entry-level and light-category jets, and presenting a mock-up of the Legacy 500 at the show.

Another company to look out for in the luxury jet sector is Bombardier Aerospace.

Bombardier's state-of-the-art CSeries aircraft dome will be present at the Singapore Airshow 2012 and guests will have the opportunity to tour the aircraft's full-scale passenger cabin and flight deck demonstrator.

On static display will be the Learjet 60 XR, Challenger 605 and Global 5000 business jets, as well as the Q400 NextGen and CRJ1000 NextGen commercial aircraft.

The Learjet 60 XR aircraft can fly from Singapore to Mumbai and Singapore to Shanghai nonstop with four passengers and two crew.

The Challenger 605 aircraft features the widest stand-up cabin of any large category business jet available today, according to Bombadier, and can whisk eight passengers and two crew from Singapore to Sydney non-stop.

The Global 5000 jet aircraft features high-speed Internet connectivity, unmatched entertainment options, a head-up flight display system and one of the largest field-of-view of any business aircraft.

It can connect Singapore to Moscow non-stop with 10 passengers and three crew.

Now in its third edition, Singapore Airshow continues to scale new heights with more than 900 exhibitors from 50 countries, and 266 delegations from 80 countries coming together to strike new deals, make key announcements and share industry insights at this landmark event in 2012.

Covered exhibition space has increased to 50,000 sqm this year, with over 65 of the latest military aircraft, passenger airliners and luxury business jets on display over 100,000 sqm of outdoor space as well as participating in the aerial display.

There will also be 22 national/group pavilions, including, for the first time, Japan and Ukraine Pavilions.
