Although there is a substantial gap between the two in terms of military & economy... China now believes that they have to share the SPACE with India be it within ASIA or world as such...

Initially there is a reluctance on part of China to sink into this idea, but once the ASEAN countries start aligning with India [Vietnam, Philippines, Japan] slowly and surely China will come to accept it.

Chinese air force is not weak. Combined with it's ground based assets, I think it's capable of holding it's own against Indian ari force. But it can not win a full scale or even a limited war against India. They simply don't have the quantity or quantity to win against any one except small fry like Vietnam.

No, J7 is no longer our backbone fighter since 2005. J 10 and J11 s are.
J7 is still in production for export though, lots of not so rich country in the world still place orders.

If you think I am chest thumping you can google American Air Force Magazine Jan.2013 issue and look for this lady called Rebecca Grant,
have her to tell you what is the current back bone jet fighter of China.
