An Aaj Tak/Headlines sting operation caught on camera seven police personnel seeking and accepting bribes, promoting swift action on the part of the Delhi Police on Tuesday.

Of the seven personnel, one is a Home Guard and another traffic police head constable. The traffic cop had sought bribe during the 'Beating Retreat' ceremony at Raisina Hill. The police personnel, including a station house officer, sought bribes after reporters approached them with a fake story about a car deal that had gone wrong and requested them not to file an FIR in the matter.

Here are policemen who took bribes for not filing an FIR:

    1. Anil Kumar, a sub inspector at Kalyanpuri Police Station, took a bribe of Rs.5,000.

    2. R.S. Naruka, an SHO at Prahladpur Police Station, took a bribe of Rs.5,000.

    3. Digamber Singh, a head constable at Sangam Vihar Police Station, took a bribe of Rs.2,000.

    4. Sohanveer, Head constable at Bhalaswa Dairy police station, accepted a bribe of Rs.1,000.

    5. Dharamveer, constable, Jaitapur Police station, accepts a bribe of Rs.1,000.

    6. Inspector Madanpal Bhati
    7. Head constable Giriraj Meena.

Soon after the sting operation was aired on television, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) agreed to the request of the Delhi Police for a free and fair probe by transferring the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Meanwhile, the press note released by the Delhi Police thanked the news channels for carrying out the sting operation. Strict action will be taken against the erring policemen by placing them under suspension and registering an FIR for taking legal action, the press note said.

"We at the Delhi Police are against all such misconduct and condemn the same. It has been our sincere effort to weed out black sheep from the system. We further urge all members of the society to provide evidence against such black sheep so that the system further improves and the Delhi Police serves people better," Public Relation Officer of Delhi Police, Rajan Bhagat said.
