NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday criticised the Jammu and Kashmir government for not implementing Prime Minister's package to settle Kashmiri migrants in the state.

As per unofficial reports, around 300,000 Kashmiri Pandits were forced to migrate out of the valley as a result of insurgency that broke in 1989-90. Hundreds of Pandits are still languishing in refugee camps in Jammu and elsewhere.

In 2008, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced a rehabilitation package which included special employment package of 3,000 jobs for migrant Kashmiri Pandits as an incentive to return to the Kashmir Valley.

The Supreme Court criticised the Omar Abdullah government today for not creating jobs and building houses for the displaced minority community.
