RIYADH: Saudi Border Guards in the southern border areas have foiled several attempts to smuggle more than half a ton of hashish, and arrested 30 smugglers of different nationalities in the Jazan and Najran areas over the past two weeks.

The Border Guard’s spokesman, Col. Saher Al-Harbi, said that these operations are part of the security forces efforts to combat drug trafficking across the Kingdom’s land and sea borders.

He said that during these operations nine Saudis, 13 Ethiopians, seven Yemenis and one Somali have been arrested and their attempts to smuggle hashish into the Kingdom have been effectively thwarted.

Al-Harbi announced that the seizures of drugs in their possession reached 536,422 grams of hashish.
He said that “the seizures and suspects were duly referred to the appropriate authorities to complete legal proceedings.”

Al-Harbi reiterated that the Border Guards will not hesitate to deal with such threats and are determined to protect the Kingdom’s borders from anything that threatens its security, stability and capabilities.

LONDON: Saudi customs authorities have foiled four attempts to smuggle Captagon pills into the Kingdom, SPA reported.

A total of 1,325,433 pills made of the amphetamine-based drug were recovered from four vehicles at the Al-Haditha crossing near the border with Jordan, it was reported.

The discovery of the pills comes after Khalid bin Ali bin Farraj Al-Omrani, a Saudi national, was executed in the Tabuk region on Wednesday for smuggling prohibited amphetamine pills.

The Ministry of Interior has said the security services are capable of deterring continued attempts to smuggle narcotics into the Kingdom.

It has warned that anyone who tries to commit such actions would be punished according to Shariah law.

Saudi Border Guards thwart attempts to smuggle more than one ton of hashish

ARAB NEWS | Published — Sunday 14 January 2018

RIYADH: Saudi Border Guards in the southern regions have thwarted a number of attempts to smuggle one ton and 10 kilograms of narcotic hashish across the provinces of Jizan, Najran, and Asir since 30 December 2018.

The Border Guards Spokesperson said that 35 people have been arrested during their attempts to smuggle narcotics to Saudi Arabia through its Southern borders including 28 Ethiopians, 2 Yemenis, 4 Somalis, and 1 Saudi citizen.

The Ministry of Interior affirms that the Government of King Salman is keen on combating narcotics due to their great harm to individuals and the society, warning anyone who tries to commit such actions would be punished according to Sharia.

The ministry said the Kingdom’s security authorities are capable of deterring the continued attempts to target the citizens with narcotic substances.

As part of the combating initiative, Saudi border guards have foiled several attempts to smuggle hundreds of kilograms of narcotic substances and arrested dozens of smugglers in Tabuk, Jazan, Najran and Asir regions in recent months.

Spokesman Col. Saher bin Mohammed Al-Harbi said the border guards will remain a strong, vigilant, steadfast barrier to all those trying to harm the homeland, attack its citizens and smuggle drugs.

Doesn't Saudis see hand of Pakistan in such activities? Or is that they deliberately hide any such news of Pakistan involvement. If have not heard of news where Pakistan was named by Saudis.
