The Russian strike on the base occurred on June 16. The U.S. and British forces help maintain what is described as a buffer zone in Jordan. Forces go into Syria to help protect Jordan from Islamic State, U.S. officials told The Journal. Forces didn’t spend the night, due to security reasons.

Nearly a day before the strike, 20 of 24 British special forces pulled out of the base. The U.S. tracked a Russian plane heading toward the base. The warplane dropped a cluster bomb, according to U.S. and rebel officials.

After the first strike, U.S. central command air operations center in Qatar called Russia’s air campaign headquarters in Latakia, Syria to tell them that the base shouldn’t be attacked.

However, Russian forces struck again nearly 90 minutes after the call was made. Russian pilots didn’t respond to U.S. calls using frequencies the two sides had previously agreed to use in case of an emergency.

Russia bombed a secret military base in Syria used by American and British forces, it has been reported.

Vladimir Putin's warplanes allegedly struck a remote garrison at At-Tanf, an outpost for elite forces from both sides of the Atlantic on June 16.

US jets are believed to have been scrambled in response, but failed to stop the aerial raid.

The close call on June 16 was part of a Russian campaign to pressure the Obama administration to agree to closer cooperation in the skies over Syria, officials told the paper.

After the first wave of bombing, US commanders warned their Russian counterparts that the garrison was part of the international military coalition against Islamic State and should not be attacked.

But around 90 minutes later, US warplanes circling nearby saw Russian jets drop a second barrage of bombs on the target.

A US spy plane overhead tried to reach the Russian pilots directly on agreed emergency frequencies, but the Russians did not answer.

Nearly a month later, Russian aircraft dropped cluster bombs on another US-linked base near the Jordanian border. The camp about 50 miles from At-Tanf housed about 200 family members of CIA-backed fighters and other displaced Syrians.

@pmaitra Cool! A decade or two late, but the Russians are avenging all injustice done to them by the Anglo-Americans. It is encouraging to see Russia come of age, under Vladimir Vladimirovich. A true leader, a true Russian bear.
It also proves how ineffective and inefficient Hussein Obama is. Not only did his administration failed to cooperate with Russia, they also failed to protect their strategic assets.

I would love to see the reactions of US fanatics throughout the world, in India and especially the ones in the forum who think the world of USA. For whom this jew controlled false, war mongering nation had become a guiding light of 'modernity' and 'development' and a 'world power'.

Don't worry though, the US has got hundreds of extra-territorial bases and scores of secret bases.

Let me tell you about myself.

I have nothing to do with this type of conflicts.

But as a side effect sometimes, it makes me happy.

Especially when the price of oil and petrol goes down.
