Another consequence of sanctions against Russia is an accelerating brain drain:

Kulizhnikov, 22, is part of a growing brain drain as Russia's worst clash with the U.S. and Europe since the Cold War accelerates an exodus of capital and its brightest minds in finance and technology. More people emigrated from Russia in the first eight months of 2014 -- 203,659 -- than in any full year under Vladimir Putin's rule, according to the Federal Statistics Service. With the stigma of sanctions limiting access to capital markets abroad and the government tightening controls at home, more entrepreneurs and investors in particular are looking elsewhere.

Foreigners leaving Russia is understandable but its a different story when a lot of its younger bright minds are preferring to leave Russia.

Aside from promising middle class entrepreneurs, a lot of media practitioners are also leaving Russia...

The increasingly harsh and reactionary political climate in Putin's Russia has sparked a wave of emigration among middle-class professionals, including several leading journalists.
Interestingly, a Russia journalist resettled in Kiev and plans to ditch Russian citizenship in favor of Ukrainian citizenship.
Independent news agency Novy Region was one of a number of media that have come under pressure because of their coverage of the Ukraine crisis. Its founder Alexander Shchetinin has now taken up residence in Kiev and has declared that he is planning to renounce his Russian citizenship and become a citizen of Ukraine.

The spur for this decision was the experience of watching Russian state TV.

Expect more bright young minds to leave Russia as the crisis deepens...

Millions of government workers have already been denied travelling abroad. The window is closing soon for those wanting to living in normal and open society.

Let me tell you that this does not matter.

There is massive political and economic shift in Russia, and it is logical that many people would run away. But many people will come as well. The immigration outwards is more than balanced with immigration inwards.

Many people will go to Russia because of its growing authoritarianism? If ever more people will go to Russia that is because of the ever growing hardships in its poverty stricken neighbors like Uzbekistan and Kyrgystan and those displaced in wars in its neighborhood orchestrated by it, the latest from Eastern Ukraine.

These migrants are mostly poorly educated laborers and people who do not anywhere to go. Meanwhile the Russians exiting Russia are some of its best minds and promising entrepreneurs.

Can you produce actual statistics to back up your claim. It is easy to go in circles with your kind of arguments.

The authoritarianism is everywhere. It may be somewhat worse in Russia but that is due to hostility Russia is facing from the West. Russia is forced to protect itself from a force which is many times bigger than itself. I would say the situation is not as bad as it seems as people are still quite positive about their future.

I suggest you google the matter. There are plenty of materials, articles and news reports about it. While you're at it you also google "Russian anti-immigrant riots."
