Its a arty tractor, Indian army use Tatra and Bofors have their own 6x6 trucks, other small size arty like 105mm - 23mm pulled by special modified trucks..

The border guarding force has ordered almost 60 new tractors which will be used to transport troops from one border post to another in areas where there are no motorable roads or regular vehicles cannot ply due to high-altitude.
"The tractors will be equipped with mowers and other accessories which will also help the personnel to cut snow and remove boulders and silt on their route," a senior ITBP officer said.



report says. so i thnk they are usual tractors only

itbp is the only force that patrol on the sino India border in peace time.

I dont see anywhere SUV cancellation, Further this are requirement for different units in different part of the China border..

Also tractors are ok, By reading the article i know what they are talking abt, No SUV can play there..

this news came week after the army intention to buy suv so i just thought of co-relation between the two.
may be im wrong but suv will greatly increase the defence bills.

ya pajero is expensive then what they are using now or the tractors( without the accessories) i guess.

Unit price is costly but maintenance is cheaper compare to a tractor, So does the parts..

In long run, SUV is cheaper to maintain and operational cost are lower, also SUV have fuel efficient
engines..

Btw, India operate million of trucks and Jeeps, average of jeep is 10-12km/liter..

Do the rest of the math..
