IN J&K, the percentage of muslims and kashmiris has risen from 1947 with the forced exodus of the kashmiri pandits. This fact is well known I hope to most of you. However, another demographical shift is slowly but surely taking place in Jammu city, which has traditionally been the abode of hindu Dogras. Because of article 370, there is lack of industry in the state and hence, most of the dogra youth is emigrating outside the state for job oppurtunities in private companies. THe state jobs are given preferentially to muslim kashmiris and muslim paharis. Also, kashmiris and paharis are moving en masse in to Jammu city. There are whole neighbourhoods, where these communities are found in majority, however, the reverse cannot happen as Kashmir is still (rightly) regarded as unsafe for hindu dogras. What will happen once, Jammu becomes majority muslim? Only time will tell however, traditionally dogras have been very patriotic. The same cannot be said about kashmiris. Can this situation be remedied?
Is this some kind of internal xenophobia? You are assuming more Muslim Kashmiris moving into Jammu is bad. That ways, the entire Muslim majority Kashmir valley is bad. Run and hide. Those bad Kashmiri Muslims are coming. There are entire neighborhoods of them!
Hari Singh should be an exception when it comes to "patriotism." It was he who wanted to retain his kingdom and was dragging his feet in the hope Jinnah would offer him Pakistani suzerainty and let him retain his title, until Sheikh Abdullah decided to join India, and showed who the real "patriot" is.

Stop spread lie mr.athesist hindu. muslim were 68.5% in 1951 in j&k in 2001 it was 67%. so your statemant is a lie and reflects a typical sanghi attitude.

My wife is from Jammu. under the right to equality clause of our constitution and also accepted by J&K assembly, the spouse of any citizen of J&K becomes a citizen of J&K automatically. The muslim majority J&K govt has tried to change this law on many occasions by ensuring that it applies to only men but has been shot down by J&K High Court. The NC and other muslims of J&K are shit scared of the fact that after having driven away Pundits from kashmir, the Hindus have married out of the state and have actually increased the non muslim population of J&K. And all these spouses have same rights as that of any state subject. The migration of muslims from Kashmir to Jammu is taking place for want of jobs which have been created by these people who have married Hindu girls in Jammu from outside J&K. The delimitation of Indian constituencies happened in 2007 and the constituencies were reassigned based on new population data. You all will be shocked to know that BJP which talks of Hindu rights actually collaborated with Congress and this excercise what not done in J&K bcoz it wud have given more seats to Hindu dominated and more populated Jammu and reduced the NC and muslims to minority in the assembly. As of now J&K assembly has more seats in Kashmir valley while the population has shifted and now Jammu region has more population with majority being Hindus.
I agree with you but you exaggerate the number of Jammu girls marrying outsiders. Mostly they marry within the state. Btw, just curious, is your wife dogri or something else?
