Dear members, I am going to compile a list of myths and lies that are deeply held beliefs in Pakistan, and conveyed to us by Pakistanis through the media and conversation. These myths and lies involve political, social and military history, societal norms, and current issues raging in na Pakistan. Just a simple list will suffice for now, and then later we can get into the details so that we don't waste all our time and effort stumbling upon intricate details, let's just get the main points across. Anyone can add to this list, you can keep it simple or justify yourself with details and analysis.


* Jinnah wanted a secular Republic

* Pakistan caused the collapse of the Soviet Union

* Pakistani soldiers did not massacre, rape and loot Bangladesh

* The Taliban are an American creation :tinfoil3:

* Pakistan created the Taliban because India created and backed the Northern Alliance (I can actually elaborate on this, Northern Alliance was backed by Pakistan until CIA left the region. They are a natural phenomena because they are persecuted minorities who formed an alliance)

* The Pakistan military has secular leadership, and rank and file was secular until Zia's time

* Zia ul Haq made Pakistanis become radical, they were all humanitarians before :lie:

* JF-17 is a 50 % partnership with China :suspicious:

* All the coup detats in Pakistan have been blood-less

* Kashmir resistance originates from the people, not from brainwashing done by army mullahs :thumb:

* Israel warned the civilized world about the power and might of Pakistan in 1948

Guess what, your comment about Mexico is also a myth. The truth is it is the Spanish colonialists who did all this, the most severe being in South America. Mexico is different from the Spanish colonialists. They fought for independence, including those of European Spanish decent and afford equal rights to its citizens.

Absolutely agree, Jinnah was an opportunist and knew how to deliver his product. It was alright for him to have his brandy and pork, but off with the head of anyone else partaking in the same. The solution to non integration of Muslims was met with one solution : radicalization of the people and politicizing of Islam.
