PoK villager held by Indian troops
By Tariq Naqash

MUZAFFARABAD: An Azad Kashmir resident was detained by Indian troops from along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Wednesday, according to local people and officials.

They said Kala Khan, 42, a resident of Darra Sher Khan, was cutting fodder in the proximity of the unmarked dividing line when he was whisked away by an Indian army patrol.

"Yes, he has been captured by the Indian army," Poonch Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Fareed told Dawn by telephone. "This is something that frequently happens along the LoC."

He said Kala Khan had accompanied a fellow villager to cut fodder in a mountain behind their hamlet known as Munir Colony in the wee hours of Wednesday. Their families waited for their return for about six hours and after that launched a search during which they found their chadors, which they used to carry grass, along the LoC. They later came in contact with one of them who had fled to a nearby town.

He told them that he heard some noise from the direction where Kala Khan was cutting grass but couldn't find him and fled from there out of panic, according to the deputy commissioner. Malick Rashid, an official at the Sehrra police post, told Dawn that a report about the incident had been registered.

This correspondent made several calls and sent text messages to a Muzaffarabad-based ISPR official for the army's version, but there was no response from him.

Residents in AJK's border areas allege that Indian troops often whisk away civilians who herd cattle, cut fodder and pick wood or medicinal plants along the LoC.

In July last year, four Neelum Valley residents who were collecting a medicinal plant along the LoC went missing and it turned out later that they had been taken across by the Indian army and were later killed.

In June 2009, another resident of the same area was allegedly picked up and taken across by the Indian troops.

In September 2007, three men went missing from Dhakki and Chaknar hamlets of Neelum Valley. Their relatives alleged that they had been kidnapped by the Indian army from the AJK side of the LoC.

Seriously.... of what interest would individual village folk would be to the army. Grow some grey cells and think for yourself.

And the timing is an exact match to the BSF soldiers kidnapping!!! For your ilk this fake news now justifies the detention and possibly torture of our soldier.

If the news of the missing men are indeed true, maybe you should look for them in your jihadi universities or among the taliban/TTP/ISIS ranks..... and good luck with that....

LOL, he must have taken the proverb ' the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence' too literally, though there was no physical fence but LOC.

But, wee hours is a great time to cut grasses snugged under a chador ( as the article says was found at the spot).

But strangely, none of them act as guides for infiltration across the LOC, none. They are all good villagers who don't work as advance point man.

And who is this guy Chaudhury Fareed of Poonch? Poonch district in POK or India?

And why did the other guy run to the town in panic?

But, if it is common, why aren't the villagers taking caution and Pakistan army not providing round the clock security to them.

As, the allegation is such that a POK villager was frisked away from POK territory.

There is nothing like AJK ... it's GK/PoK or Gulam Kashmir or Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan attacked, plundered and raped Kashmiris. Pakistan has killed 100,000 innocent Kashmiris including women and children and genocide of Pundits as well.

Pakistan doesn't care for Kashmiri people but only want their land.

Evil Pak Army abducts and kill it's own people and then blame India so they can create a false excuse to violate ceasefire on LoC and send Terrorists to India so they can become target practice for Indian Army.

Pakis are also doing GENOCIDE of Muslims in Balochistan and killing all Shia/Hazara/Ahmedia/Hindus/Sikhs/Christian etc.

The below article is not the villager that OP talks about. But, mentions exactly what I had mentioned in my quoted reply.

It seems that Ilyas's son, Mohammad Abdullah, was allegedly killed on Aug 2 by Indian Army soldiers in the Kail Sector of Azad Jammu and Kashmir while leading his group to cross onto the Indian side

==========

Pakistani were drowning themselves with self praise because of the statement that said he was treated better than expectation. Didn't Pakistani realize that expectation itself was too less.

The handcuffing shows how well he was treated.

The correct term now is PoJK: Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir. One of the first good decisions of Modi govt on the state.
