Pakistan ranks third on Global Terrorism Index
LONDON: A new global study by London-based Institute for Economics and Peace has ranked Pakistan third on the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) list.
The
report said Iraq was the country hit hardest by terrorism, with 2,492 attacks that killed more than 6,300 people. It was followed by Afghanistan and Pakistan, with Nigeria and Syria in fourth and fifth place respectively.
With 10,000 worldwide attacks in 2013, the report says Pakistan in particular saw a 37 per cent increase in deaths and 28 per cent increase in injuries since 2012. The report also said that deaths resulting from terror incidents in Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Nigeria and Syria account for more than 80 per cent of the the total deaths from attacks.

Pakistani diplomat expelled from Dhaka
ISLAMABAD: In a fresh diplomatic row between Pakistan and Bangladesh, a Pakistani High Commission official based in Dhaka was declared persona non grata by the Bangladeshi government and was asked to leave the country.
"Diplomatic official Mazhar Khan was charged by Bangladesh's foreign ministry of running an illegal Indian currency business in Dhaka beside alleged links with militants," a diplomatic source told Dawn.com.

Two Pakistani diplomats in UK accused of abduction, rape
The British Foreign and Commonwealth office (FCO) disclosed a list of the most serious alleged offences committed in 2013 which included representatives from Pakistan accused of child abduction and rape, according to a
report published in The Independent.
The accused men were among foreign diplomats suspected of 14 crimes — who are entitled to diplomatic immunity and thus protected from British law.
