India hits back with vengeance, strikes 37 Pak posts, 15 killed

The Indian security forces unleashed "massive retaliation" on Tuesday all along the 200-kilometre long International Border (IB) in Jammu against what they termed unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers that began on October 1.

The Indian attack targeted 37 Pakistani border posts, resulting in around 15 deaths, more than 30 injured and serious damage to outposts manned by the Pakistani Rangers, intelligence sources told HT.

India has lost six people and sustained 13 injuries in Pakistani firing in the Jammu sector, part of a five-fold increase in ceasefire violations on the IB this year to 41. The incidents have perplexed military analysts who are more accustomed to firing across the Line of Control (LoC) to facilitate infiltration of terrorists.

The IB is the formal border between India and Pakistan and the 700-km LoC is a line demarcated in 1972 across which troops of either side are ranged.

A terse eight-minute phone conversation between the Indian and Pakistani deputy directors of the directorate general of military operations (DDDGMO) ended with brigadiers from both sides trading accusations.

There were some reports of the Rangers holding their fire in the wake of the strong Indian response but by and large the Pakistanis responded in kind to Indian action in Arnia, Raghubir Singh Pura, Ramgarh, Samba, Akhnoor and Pargwal.

"While India has no intention of escalating situation on the Jammu border, there is no question that the Pakistanis will be allowed to go without punishment," said a senior South Block official.

South Block sources said the Indian side was forced to open up after the Pakistan Army first violated the Line of Control in Poonch followed by their Rangers, who let loose with heavy machine guns and mortars in the Jammu sector.

The first incident happened on October 1, when the Pakistan Army targeted an Indian Army border outpost (BoP) under Mandi sub-division of Poonch sector. On October 3, the Pakistanis again fired at a BoP in Mandi, killing a 17-year-old girl and injuring four Indian civilians.

On October 3-4 night, the Pak Rangers decided to escalate firing to the IB and targeted an Indian BoP in Arnia sector. A Pakistani mortar shell landed in a house in Kaku de Kothey village in Arnia as a result of which two civilians sustained serious injuries. This was just the beginning.

On October 4, an Indian Army jawan was killed in an improvised explosive device blast and two others were badly hurt. The border action team of Pakistan-based terrorists had planted the device near Tiba forward post in Mendhar in Poonch sector.

Two days later, the Pak Rangers again opened up at the IB and targeted Indian BoPs in Arnia with heavy mortars, killing five civilians including a minor, and injuring 30 others. Since October 1, Indian BoPs in Mandi, Mendhar, Arnia, Khour, Ramgarh and Rajouri sector have been targeted by the Pakistani forces.

Yes, we created a space jump portal so that when we fire on the pakis, balochi separatists can enter the space jump portal on the LOC and land in balochistan......

jahil hamid knows all too well about these portals employed by India to send terrorists to waziristan, FATA, balochistan etc... watch out!!!

Media only says that Indian forces have done indiscriminate firing on the civilian population of Azad Kashmir. Indian infiltration we all know is done on our western borders i.e. from your consulate in Kandhar :)

This is what is required.

I have seen pictures of blood-stained hamlets in Jammu. While I have not seen the deceased, and I could use my imagination by relating the victims of the artillery strikes in E. Ukraine.

If they kill our civilians, they need to be severely punished. I would launch an all out long range artillery barrage and cause a massive population movement across the border.

This is not the LoC. This is the border. What's wrong with these Pakistanis?

we will be just postponing the inevitable there would be a confrontation even with this strategy.moreover patrolling of our chinese front is less compared to our paki borders thats why they could use this strategy. dont forget chinese are not suicidal like pak. they had to step back when our army confronted them.

i feel it would be better to use small skirmishes like this ongoing battle to cover as much land as possible and then hold and negotiate.

Pakistan needs to try to improve trade with india. Modi is the person they can do
Business with. There must be a few businessmen interested in this? Confrontation
Will not gain anything. Pakistanis policy is to start trouble when their domestic failures
Get out of hand , creating internal and external calamities.

international community, UN has heard these false tears from packland for decades and as recent events
when nawaz went to give his great speech , hardly anyone was there to bother to listen
attitude of international community is that LOC is intl border and both sides should accept ...they
have no time or energy for this issue and feel there are better things for them to attend to .... they have come
around to taking india's proposition that it is a bilateral issue to be solved between the two ......only international clown who doesn't accept that is the ignorant ed milband who made a fool of himself years ago when visiting the region.

Pakistan needs to try to improve trade with india. Modi is the person they can do

my take is that
Besides all the issues of old there is also the new political stalemate in pak plus the ISI's need to from time
to time remind all concerned who's the real boss on their side .... as for your point about pak needing to
improve their trade - for sure youre right

but rational thinking is not going to be present in their state of affairs and there will always be some issue
preventing the same ...plus the fact that their minds are already pre-programmed against being rational

fact is that once all this finally boils over, pak will have to face their domestic problems and those have
multiplied - serious challenge to nawaz's pmship, musharraf is still on trial, .... their society is facing very serious
challenges and nothing like a good-ole Kashmir incident to give all a rest from their domestics .

Dont know about trade but i agree on ur one point That ,pak Always create trouble on borders when ----,ed up inside. But this time India should not stop until pakis piss in their own pants
it also helps buy time to address the serious domestic problems ., to take attention off those matters
and give ISI an internal boost so that at the end of all this ISI comes out stronger and has more say
in whom they want as pm.

it gives runts like bilawal a chance to boast to his english girlfriends at oxford that he has "major" influence
on the nation - gives his ego a boost

and the village folks of both sides pay the price for the ego-boost for him and others in packland !

The fence we have built needs some flexibility in it . Like the previous 3 wars fought, if packland gets to see
tjat every time they initiate something, they will lose some ground - then they will have to think twice

that is what we must force them into - not giving back land taken and pows taken - just returning without
anything in return - in that case they wont learn anything.

J&K ceasefire violations: Everything will be fine soon, says PM Modi | Zee News

New Delhi: Amid continuing major ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the International Border and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that things will be fine soon.

When asked by reporters about ceasefire violations by Pakistan, PM Modi said, "Everything will be fine soon."

This is PM Modi's first reaction following a slew of ceasefire violations by the neighbouring country.

The remarks came amid reports that the government has given a "free hand" to the security forces to retaliate to Pakistan's provocations.

The Home Ministry has also put on hold a scheduled flag meeting between Pakistani and Indian paramilitary forces to discuss the recent hostilities.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval today held a high-level meeting with various stakeholders and later briefed PM Modi on the situation along the International Border and Line of Control.

Also, Home Minister Rajnath Singh talked to the BSF DG twice today. The minister was also likely to meet PM Modi and apprise him of the situation.

Union Minister of State (PMO) Jitendra Singh, who represents the Jammu Lok Sabha seat in Parliament, visited the border areas to take stock of the situation.

Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, who is also the chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, today said India wants to resolve the issue of ceasefire violations by Pakistan as soon as possible.

"It is a serious issue, it should not have happened...The government is taking it seriously...We want peace, tranquility, and good relations with neighbours," he said after the 82nd Air Force Day celebrations at the Hindon Air Force Station on the outskirts of Delhi.

Pakistan Rangers continued to fire across the International Border through the night and well into Wednesday, killing at least two more people and injuring two dozens. India was quick to retaliate, but the casualties on the Pakistani side was not immediately known.

More than 20,000 residents of 30 villages along the IB in Jammu region have been shifted to safer locations, Indian officials said. India's top military official said they were keen to resolve the ceasefire violations as Pakistan again raised the Kashmir issue at the UN.

The latest string of Pakistan ceasefire violations on the 700 km-LoC and the IB started on October 3. The number of people killed in Pakistan shelling on civilian areas in Jammu region has now gone up to seven, while the number of injured has shot up to 55.
