Army officer shot dead in Peshawar - Pakistan - DAWN.COM
Unidentified gunmen on Sunday shot dead a serving colonel of the Pakistan Army in Hayatabad Phase 3.

According to Hayatabad Police, two assailants on a motorcycle targeted Col Tahir Azeem in Abaseen Market when he was on his way home from a nearby mosque.

Local police said Tahir Azeem expired on the spot after sustaining multiple bullet wounds.

According to reports, Col Tahir Azeem's brothers— Waqas and Shakil— were also shot dead in separate attacks in 2004 and 2005. Both Waqas and Shakil, however, had no association with the armed forces.

Tahir Azeem was posted in Rawalpindi; he was in Hayatabad to visit his family.

Pakistan vs Zimbabwe: One Killed in Suicide Blast Outside Gadaffi Stadium

Lahore: A sub-inspector was killed and six others injured after a suicide blast outside Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore where the second one day international (ODI) match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe was ongoing, media reported on Saturday. Policemen stopped the bomber before he could enter the outer wall of the Gaddafi Stadium where he blew himself up on Friday night, killing the sub- inspector, Geo News reported. The Pakistan Broadcasters Association in conjunction with the information ministry earlier decided to not report the incident in order to avoid any untoward incident such as a stampede during the match at the stadium. The 50-over match, however, remained uninterrupted amid the explosions.

well this is something sad that's happening over there, but we can understand the mentality of people who form the lower part of the society there.

I think issue will grow because of lack of prostitution, silence in society about this problem and government will to crack down.

This is a pic of Zarb-e-azb operation.

After looking at this pic i am now confident that there is fundamentally wrong with that country. Who would destroy their own towns like this? If towns look like this, then villages would have been flattened out.No wonder you find the rhetoric blaming everybody else for their problems. who would not want to keep people distracted, if you had created such a mess!!!!!

Pakistan: Militants storm airport, kill engineer and kidnap another
Quetta, Pakistan (CNN)Six armed militants stormed Pakistan's Jiwani Airport on Sunday, killing an engineer, a local official said.

The assailants who escaped unharmed also kidnapped another engineer, said Bashir Ahmed, a senior district-level official in Balochistan province.

The attack happened in Pakistan's southwestern port city of Gwadar, an area in which Baloch insurgents have been operating.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack comes a week after Baloch separatist leader Brahumdagh Bugti said he's ready to consider talks with Pakistan.

Yup I agree with you, and yet our resident paki trolls still think residents of those towns are given warnings evacuated first and bombed later.

I won't be surprised if UN will start finding mass graves in those areas.

70% decline in terrorist attacks in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: After years of terrorist attacks, military coups and political upheaval, Pakistan for now has settled into a period of relative calm.

“Over the past nine months, government statistics show, major terrorist attacks have declined 70% and Pakistanis are flocking back to shopping malls, resorts and restaurants,” a report carried by Washington Post said on Tuesday.

“The relaxed and optimistic mood in Pakistan was benefiting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif politically,” it said.

“Still, the arrangement is allowing PM Nawaz to do something that Pakistani leaders have struggled to accomplish for much of the past decade: implement a road map for what a peaceful, stable Pakistan could look like. And in the process, the prime minister is winning over sceptics despite his low-key leadership style,” the report maintained.

According to the report, one year after he was nearly bounced from office, Premier Nawaz has hung on amid signs the country could be on the cusp of a surprising turnaround.

“People are feeling more secure. There are development projects, and the perspective of people is changing to say, ‘Okay, now we can see things are going well,” the US based newspaper quoted Zafar Mueen Nasir, dean of business studies at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics as saying. “Of course, there will always be some criticism and always a second opinion, but as far as I am concerned, this government is at least showing some progress.”

The report referred to last year’s sit-in in the federal capital and said, “But as Islamabad slipped into an unusually chilly fall, Nawaz outlasted the protesters.”

“Now, Nawaz has turned his attention toward trying to rebuild a chronically sluggish economy while also delivering shiny new amenities for residents,” the report added.

It further stated: “It’s a strategy that has become easier to implement this year, as a military campaign in Pakistan’s tribal belt and its largest city, Karachi, has been credited with reducing terrorist attacks and other crimes.”

The report quoting the South Asia Terrorism Portal, which monitors violence, said: “In the first eight months of this year, 680 civilians have been killed in terrorist attacks, compared with 1,194 in the same period last year and 2,246 in 2013.”

Wait till you have to start Zarb-e azb - II since Talibunnies(Good/bad Terrorists) would regroup and play football with the head of your soldiers or kill your children.

It would be back to business again.

Pakistani journalist Aftab Alam shot dead. This comes barely 24 hours after a Geo TV van was attacked and two technicians dies due to bullet injuries.

Seems like there is a State Sponsored Terror(Army/ISI) done to suppress news from Pakistan.

So is that the reason we are not hearing much normal news(terrorist attacks/scam/rapes etc) for a while and Pakis have started a propaganda of "Pakistan returning to peace" etc?

GEO TV is the one who showed Kasab was a Paki and then got gagged. One of the most famous journalist Hamid Mir already survived 2 attacks and lucky to be alive for some time again.

@blue marlin @Neo @Raja.pakistani @musalman @Zarvan: Paki panel... Comments pleej and no derailing by starting Indian Poverty/Toilets/Rapes since it's much more on your side.

Aftab Alam: Second Pakistan media worker shot dead in Karachi
Gunmen in Pakistan have shot dead a former journalist near his home in Karachi, the third such attack on media personnel in less than 24 hours.
In April last year one of Geo's main presenters, Hamid Mir, was seriously injured in a shooting in Karachi. His family blamed the attack on the country's spy agency, the ISI.
In January 2014 three Express Media staff were killed. One of its news anchors narrowly escaped in another shooting two months later but his driver was killed.

Hamid Mir threatened before shooting by "State and Non-State actors"

Sir the thing is..ISPR is the telecomm. and broadcast wing of ISI. They have complete control over the media and the journalist. They simply give message by kidnapping, threatening or killing the journalists.

They know that every protest, every movement has a leader. So they simply eliminate the leader and their assists. They do not believe in diplomatic solutions, or negotiations at all.

Have they killed women too if they lead the protests or tell the truth ?
If yes, then ISI and PA are the most ferocious b*****s in the world.
They just have a mouth for whining and ranting bigger than their A$$.

@Raja.pakistani @Neo @musalman @Zarvan @blue marlin Are you hearing this ?
