@LF, the no first use policy stands only against non-nuclear states as of now. This has been cleared last year by our NSA loud and clear.

I think India needs to make it clear to everyone that no matter who uses it but if Bomb made in a particular country explode in Indian territory retaliatory strike will include manufacturer as well.
Yes Shash, this is the time for strong words and back it up with some actions.

The Chinese should be stated in very clear words, if in any case a chinese meddling in Indo-pak matters is detected, they would have it then. What you stated here should be conveyed via different channels, the best would be to convey it through the Pakistanis themselves. If Chinese help is seen at any stage they would face the axe too.

we need to reexamine the no first use doctrine ,with 2 hostile neighbors does it make sense?? Better to have a overwhelming initial strike to keep collateral damage at a minimum.
Could not agree more. If there is even a remote chance that we might get nuked. Nuke Pakistan first. India and Indians come first.

Pakistan nuking us will not only kill our citizens in millions but also destroy our economy.

India nuking first will kill terrorists in Pakistan, and economy is not a word which can be found in Pakistan's dictionary.

P.S.: I am not in favor of Nuclear war. Nobody wins a nuclear war, but cockroaches!

Shash we need longer range missiles, megaton payloads with MIRV to make this message clear, right now we have none of these but it does mean we will not in the not too distant future.

O. its the chinese who are pushing pakistanis against us. They want to play safe and push them against us.

So the chinese economy flourishes and we face constant threat from across the border.

This is a very well-designed chinese plan as its the only way to put brakes on us.

And also the Chinese are fueling insurgencies in our North-East, read my interesting post here : http://defenceforumindia.com/showthread.php?t=18500&p=231622&viewfull=1#post231622

This is the same plan China used against Japan using North Korea as proxy.

These Chinese have very bad habits of playing such games in their neighbourhood.

If in any way both the arms of chinese game-machine are twisted and broken (read NK and our beloved western neighbour), they would be exposed big time and they won't have place to hide their face then.

By hook or crook, we need to take out pakistan and wait for somebody to do the same to NK. Then the real Game will begin. Who'll save the chinese then?????

O, thats perfect what u said. Its exactly the same and they are feeling the heat.

And yesterday i read a very interesting post of Vladimir sir here, that in making choice amongst China and India, President Medvedev said that they will side with India unconditionally.

Thats gr8 news for us, Russia, a true ally.

With MIRVs we don't need mega ton payloads. Accurate targeting on specific locations will cripple any city. This has been discussed many times here.

First of all Iraq never had nuclear capability all they were charged for was biological weapons and they were never found. Moreover Iraq was a weak nation and what USA was interested in was controlling their oil not their nukes or weapons. conditions differ in case of Iran , Pakistan and N korea .
you are deviating from his contention though. point is you can holler and hoot all you want- it's not going to change the fact that the US has complete knowledge and has even audited the safe guards of their nuclear facilities. Just recently there was either a wiki leak or some leak about how the US had a contingency plan to include their security personal at these sensitive sites and the people of pak got upset.

where do think anyone stealing the nukes is probably going to go first? :) -hence, they are very concerned. remember the reasons behind the START treaty... yup they are very concerned about loose nukes.

I would like to edit my earlier post in here. China is also stuck in between Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, SK etc.

This is true - China has no friends in the immediate vicinity other than Pakistan and North Korea, and both are failed states. Otherwise, China would have attacked us long back to capture Arunachal Pradesh. Chinese are as cunning as vixens!

And they are dreaming to beat the US in the their own game, not happening at all. Just compare the neighbourhood of the US and China.

Analysis: why Pakistan wants to expand its nuclear arsenal

Although the numbers of weapons held by either country are small in comparison, the result of the nuclear competition between the two countries is reminiscent of the Cold War arms race between the US and USSR.
In India's case, the perceived threat is China. For Pakistan, the presumed enemy is India. Paranoia is driving the acceleration of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal.
The two country's have fought three wars since partition in 1947 and today Islamabad knows that its conventional forces would be swamped by those across the border.
Unable to match India's defence expenditure, economy and population, Islamabad has, since the 1970s, relied on nuclear technology to provide a deterrent.
The latest escalation in tensions – with Pakistan saying it wants to maintain parity of stocks with India, which recently unveiled a nuclear-powered submarine – will come as no surprise to analysts.

ISLAMABAD: Dismissing an "unnecessary alarmist reporting" about Pakistan's nuclear programme, Pakistan said on Tuesday that it would continue to follow a responsible policy of maintaining credible minimum deterrence.

"Pakistan is mindful of the need to avoid arms race with India but would never compromise on its national security," a foreign office spokesman said while responding to an article in New York Times by David E. Sanger and Eric Schmitt, in the article - "Pakistani Nuclear Arms Pose Challenge to U.S. Policy."

The Foreign Office spokesman in a statement said "In the nuclearized environment of South Asia, Pakistan continues to attach importance to ensuring peace, security and stability in South Asia and was mindful of the adverse implications of "selectivity" and "exceptionalism" in evidence on issues of nuclear non-proliferation.

The Spokesman said Pakistan has consistently advocated to India the need to resume the stalled Pakistan-India Dialogue, including on issues of peace and security.

"In this context, Pakistan's proposal for strategic restraint regime in South Asia, including nuclear and conventional forces as well as resolution of all issues and dispute is of extreme importance," the statement said.

Let me correct you, No first use policy is against another nuclear powered state and No nuke weapon against non nuclear state. But no first use doesn't mean we'll let them explode bomb on our people. Any evidence for preparation to launch nuke attack or even india got evidence about clear intention to use nuke against it would be considered first use and then India will nuke that country before it launch its first nuke weapon.

you are right Yusuf but Chinese have an obsession with numbers look at the new DF-31's they have MIRV'ed a big dinosaur, if the numbers are not big the Chinese may not respond?? If they can play tit for tat at the kiloton levels using Pak, we will have to play at the megaton level to be on the same field with them.
