Actually this is a good move.

Any council must be balanced.

While it is important to have members who uphold human rights, it is also important to include members who abuse human rights.

Without darkness, there is no light.

UN is a joke, a union of inconvenience. This is not surprising when numerous dictatorial and extremist nations are its members who do not prescribe to democracy.:tsk:

UN is just a BS.

UN awarding seat to human rights violators like Pakis and keep on watching human rights violations in Sri Lanka, right from 2009 Mullivaikkal Mayhem.

Hope UN will extend its hands to J&K terrorists and NE separatists.

Good for Sri Lanka
Yeah you can conduct further genocide as pakis will back your blood lust with it's own! But for how long it will continue is to be seen as UN is nothing more than a stooge of the Rich and powerful....doom is near for weak and genocidal nations!

The General Assembly today elected 18 States to serve on the Human Rights Council, the United Nations key forum for tackling entrenched human rights concerns around the world.

Those elected were Argentina, Brazil, Côte d'Ivoire, Estonia, Ethiopia, Gabon, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Montenegro, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Venezuela. All would serve three-year terms beginning on 1 January 2013. These States are the first round of Council members whose terms of office would begin on 1 January, and not in June.
