Pakistan, China sign deal to build 200-km-long tunnel through PoK

China and Pakistan on Friday signed eight agreements, including a whopping USD 18 billion deal to build a 200 km-long strategic tunnel through the rugged PoK, as the two all-weather allies sought to boost economic ties and supply critical oil to the energy-hungry Communist giant.

According to experts, the corridor will speed up development in Xinjiang, which has seen frequent unrest, and also open up a new route for China's energy imports from West Asia. The corridor will pass through Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), which borders Xinjiang and provides the only feasible transport link between China and Pakistan.

A USD 44 million project was also agreed between the two countries to erect a fibre optic cable from the China-Pakistan border to Rawalpindi, which aims at providing Pakistan more connectivity to international networks.
MODS: Pleas see if this is a recent news or actually an older one. I saw this news on mewsx tv today. hence posting. But on net am finding some older articles as well(i.e. some 2-3 months old as well). If so please move it to appropriate thread. Thanks.

What are they gonna do with a $18 billion tunnel?
There bilateral trade isn't even near $10 billion.
This is not an economically feasible project

they are getting to a situation where it is a de facto ceding of pok by pak to china

just as pak ceded their "rights" in aksai and shagsam valley to china

same thing happening here except pak is getting some money in return - in this case

Time to invest in Bunker Busting Munition, the Paki's should be aware that the tunnel if constructed will be a high value target.

The logical use of such a tunnel would be to rush forces in during a time of tensions, not of active war.

Pakistan is not a trap for China.
I meant the other way brother. We have to think away from them as we can raise above only with friendship and put aside our differences and improve our trade to the next level and showing the world that only unity is the need of the moment to steady the economy.

You are correct, it's in fact other way around. Sad part is, Pukes fail to understand this simple logic and take chinese for granted :pound:

Didn't expected this answer from a high IQ chini?
do you know how vulnerable these kind of tunnels are?
Reinforcement and supply lines all trapped in a $18 billion tunnel would be fantastic :troll:

This project doesn't seem feasible and this news could be some hoax or fake Chinese chest thumping

This tunnel is aiming to boom the bilateral trade with better transportation.
More importantly, it will open the door to mide east market.
