I hate to bust the party, but this is more about Russian export controls of RD-93 than it is about China sticking it to Pakistan.
Well we are talking about the Chinese here, they had no problem copying the Su-30s, moreover what does engines have to do with manufacture of air frame? They wont manufacture engines in Pakistan anyway.

Pakistan survival for next year is in question and china has asked for 10 years time thereafter allowing Pakistan to sell this fighter to who ever want this junk in their museum.

It appears that China has played master stoke with Pakistan.

This is the JF-17 known as the stealth raptor killer it does not belong in a museum, only pakistani pilots can fly this beauty. This plane will force USA to leave Afghanistan.

The engines have everything to do with exports which is what they are talking about. Russia didn't want JF-17 competing with in their markets so a 10 year clause until their new generation of fighters hits the market sounds like the compromise was made.

The Mig series will see it's last orders for 4 and 4.5th gen platforms in this decade and even that is not entirely likely.

Once the LFI is flying then there could be a possibility for JF-17 exports with the RD-93. However if China has it's own engine then I don't see the reason for stopping exports unless the engine is not ready for operational use.

10 years is a long time and maybe some countries may not wait. This delay would free up LCA for export.

For all we know the news report may even be false.

China probably agreed to it because WS-13 will be ready in ten years time and will no longer need Russian engines.

At that time most countries will be moving towards 4-5th gen planes, not many buyers for reversed
engineered 3rd gen planes. Also I don't think Russia will give up their markets. If they think the Chinese
have a comparable engine they will stop the delivery of the rd-93 engines. There must a clause to this
effect somewhere with the chinese??

Good move by China, someone could reverse engineer it.
without industry chains full enough, one country could not reverse-enginneering a modern aircraft at all, even if it had be gifted all blueprints....

And,except USA, EU, Russia ,CHina and Japan, no other country has such full industry chains.

Reverse engineering a reverse engineered will be pretty cheap. :becky:

So it looks like lca has a chance to make a sale outside before jf-17. Or even we are tied by this clause by GE ?

don't flatter yourself about an industrial chain and make false comparisions when you cannot make an engine or radar for the plane.

It looks very childish every time when you try to link Reverse engineering with full chain industries.
USA, EU, russia, japan all have full scaled industries, and they have innovations to develop there own products. None of these countries have a bad label attached of copying and stealing to their name like china.

So please dont insult these respectable nations by including china in that list.

Good job for China, they are protecting the technology they stole from Russia and America and making sure it doesn't get into the wrong hands. And they also protect their friends like Pakistan from any attacks in their country even though hungry Pakistan harbors terrorists and uses them to attack free and democratic India.

Too bad more countries can't be mature, free and responsible like China.
