Ten entertainment television channels in Pakistan have been slapped with Rs.10 million fine for airing excessive Indian and foreign content, a media report said on Monday.

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) imposed the fine on the channels and issued warning letters to them to desist from such practice in future, The News report said.

It quoted a document of Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, as saying that the local channels were airing excessive Indian content, much more than the prescribed limits.

PEMRA monitoring system is working round the clock to ensure the compliance of code of conduct and code of advertising, the report said.

Private TV channels of the country have been authorised to air only 10 per cent foreign content and 60 per cent of that 10 per cent should be Indian or other content and 40 per cent of the 10 per cent may be English content.

The channels that have been fined include Hum TV, Oxygen TV, Play TV, Kohinoor Entertainment, TV One Entertainment, NTV Entertainment, GXM Entertainment, Jalwa Entertainment.

Oh no... :okay: its a big blow to India's Evil master plan to Indianise Pakis and destroy 1,000,000,000,000 year old ancient "Paki Culture".

Now how would we brainwash Pakis? :hmm:

As a disinterested observer, I would conclude from this news that Pakistan lacks its own culture. Is that a fair comment?

Pakistan TV shows are making programs about Taliban, Jihad, anti-India, Zaid Hamid etc so local Paki audiences are demanding indian soap operas & Bollywood movies. So it is their business what they like to see on TV.

The news is funny. This is how things work. The Pakistan channels sjhow Indian content and get lots of viewers and make a lot of money. The "authorities" want a share of the pie and while they fine the channels on one side they know damn well that the tap will dry up if the channels actually stop showing Indian content. So life goes on - with a wink and a nod.

Once a Paki. Always a moron.
