India Retaliates After Soldier is Killed, 4 Pakistani Jawans Dead

Four Pakistani soldiers have been killed in retaliation after an Indian jawan was shot dead in the Samba district, 41 kms from Jammu.

Pakistani Rangers who guard the border in Kashmir fired on a group of Indian soldiers on patrol, the second ceasefire violation in 24 hours. A jawan from the Border Security Force died.

This evening, India returned fire and three Pakistanis were killed.

India stopped firing when the Pakistani Rangers raised a white flag, requesting time to remove the bodies of those killed.

Last night, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar told reporters that the Indian army would retaliate with "double the force" if Pakistan opened fire across the border.

Ceasefire violation: Parrikar says Pak doesn't seem to learn lessons

Bangalore, Jan. 1 (ANI): Firing salvos at Pakistan for the newest ceasefire violation at border outposts, Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday stated the neigbouring state doesn't seem to learn lessons.

"We're surrounded within the northern a part of the nation by two neighbours who usually are not very snug. Pakistan doesn't like to keep quiet even on New Yr's Day. That's the reason they fired from throughout the border at 12.30 am. That nation doesn't seem to learn lessons," Parrikar stated whereas addressing a rally right here.

The Defence Minister added that the northern borders are stored protected due to the technological improvements cast in Bangalore.

"Bangalore is the mind of India in area analysis. Thus we should thank Bangalore for maintaining our northern borders protected," he added.

Pakistan Rangers began unprovoked firing at border outposts alongside the Worldwide Border in Jammu late final night time.

The newest ceasefire violation comes after Islamabad reportedly summoned India's Deputy Excessive Commissioner to the nation yesterday night to register its protest over the alleged killing of 4 Pakistani Rangers by the BSF.

3 Pakistan Rangers Killed After India Retaliates to Heavy Firing in Jammu

SRINAGAR: Three Pakistan Rangers were killed after Indian security forces retaliated to heavy firing near the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba and Hiranagar sectors on Friday evening. Indian forces retaliated after several posts of the Border Security Force or BSF were targeted in yet another ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops today. Cross-border firing is still going on in the two sectors.
Pakistani Rangers had resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing on the BSF posts, according to news agency Press Trust of India. Home Minister Rajnath Singh ordered the BSF to respond with 'appropriate' action to the cross- border firing; the firing was unprovoked, said the Home Ministry Today's ceasefire violation was the fourth by the Rangers in as many days and the eighth in the last nine days. On Tuesday, a BSF jawan was killed when Pakistani Rangers fired on a group of Indian soldiers on patrol. India had returned fire and four Pakistani soldiers were killed in retaliation. India stopped firing when Pakistan Rangers raised a white flag, requesting time to remove the bodies. In a letter to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today, Pakistan's Foreign Affairs Adviser Sartaj Aziz had alleged that India killed two Pakistani Rangers after calling them for a meeting on the International Border on December 31. India has dismissed the allegations, saying they are baseless.

SHOULD be much more than 5... when did Pakis admit their causalities?

A simple guess can be 5-10 times as it was in Kargil. They admitted 500 but it was 4000.

We cooked 4000 Pakis alive by laser bombs.

Every time this retaliation happens why should rajnath singh's / parrikar's name come in the news article.Let it be known publicly in no uncertain terms that this is the new official policy. if they start it, we will end it with atleast double the force. i don't think this has come out clearly, there are hints and comments but no one spelt it out clearly as an official statement. Let the approvals be discreet.

From rediff live updates:
09:37 am: 3 Pakistan Rangers killed as BSF replies to shelling
Three Pakistan Rangers soldiers were killed on Saturday morning in a strong retaliation from India, after Pakistan on Friday night resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing on several BSF posts along the border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Friday's ceasefire violation was the fourth by the Rangers in as many days and the eighth in the last nine days.

BSF sources said they have got reports that five Pakistani Rangers have been killed in the exchange of fire, with two casualties post 9:30 pm.

BSF Director General DK Pathak, who briefed Home Minister Rajnath Singh at 10 pm on Friday, said the force had thwarted a "major infiltration attempt" from across the border and his troops were on high alert.

"We have foiled a major infiltration bid that was being carried out from across the Chorgali border outpost under the cover of heavy ceasefire violation firing," Pathak said.

With the violations continuing unabated, Singh had ordered BSF to respond with "appropriate" action. The Home Minister also said the firing was unprovoked.

In these firings on indian side there is casualties of military personnels plus civilians. But on pakistani side there is casualty of miliatary personnels only. I hardly get to hear civilian casualty.
Is it true or i am misinformed. And if true, does that mean pakistani side is scarsely populated as compared to indian side at border .

Pakistan Army moving forward after India's strong retaliation along the border in J&K: Sources - IBNLive

Pakistan Army is moving forward after India's strong retaliation along the international border and Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, say external intelligence sources. Pakistani Army troops have crossed several posts which are normally manned by Pakistani Rangers, the equivalent of India's Border Security Force.
In the last few days, Pakistani Rangers have opened unprovoked firing at several BSF posts along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir leading to a very strong reply from the Indian troops.
While BSF officials say they have seen some movement on the Pakistani side but the situation is under control so far. They add the movement of Pakistani Army started after some Rangers were killed in retaliatory firing by BSF troops.
Although no flag meeting has been scheduled but the BSF will lodge a strong protest to Pakistani authorities about the movement.
Earlier Inspector General Border Security Force (Jammu frontier) Rakesh Sharma had termed the ceasefire violations by Pakistan as "utter frustration". He also claimed many terrorists were waiting to sneak into the Indian side in Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan.
"There are about 50-60 terrorists at the launch pads on the other side waiting at the international border but we are fully prepared," he said adding that security measures have been intensified on the Indian side to check any untoward incident.
In the past few days one BSF soldier and four Pakistani Rangers have been killed in Samba sector of Jammu aqnd Kashmir while firing at several border outposts have taken place.
On Wednesday, Pakistani Rangers waved white flags asking BSF to stop the firing so that they could lift the bodies of their dead men. Honouring their request, the BSF stopped the firing and allowed them to come to the border line and lift the bodies.
Not sure how reliable this info is.

Access to TV media on their side of the border is very restricted along LOC, Their TV channels show visuals of our soldiers doing patrol from our side. I have always had a feeling that most of the times their news channels report border skirmishes taking cue from our media.
