AMRITSAR: Two and half hours of gun firing between Pakistani smugglers and Border Security Force (BSF) personals at two places on a same night at India-Pak international border has exposed the hands of Pakistan Rangers behind cross border smuggling operations in India. And the indication to this was also given by BSF's Inspector General, Frontier, Aditya Mishra.
While talking to TOI on Wednesday he said that it seems unbelievable that Pakistani smugglers remained engaged in gunfire using AK 47 rifle with BSF for about two and half hours and Pak Rangers didn't come to know what was happening on their border . "Several bursts of AK 47 rifle were fired and Pakistan Rangers didn't come to know , the cross border smuggling operations seems to be impossible without tactical support of Pak Rangers," said he.
Sources seeking anonymity told "It is ISI that has asked Rangers to shut up under a larger conspiracy to destablise India , else who will trust that Pak border security force didn't hear gun shots". Aditya said "No effective efforts have been taken by Pak Rangers so far to check cross border smuggling," adding that there was a nexus of old smugglers with several Pak agencies including Pak Rangers, ISI behind smuggling operations.
The chemical examination of heroin smuggled from Pakistan revealed its purity to about 60%. "One kilogram of heroin is used to make 100 kilogram of heroin which is sold in retail market," said sources.
He informed that Pak smugglers also take advantage of riverine gaps or the area where border fence was damaged. As much as 30 kilometers of riverine fence was yet to be installed while the border fence also needs to be repaired at several places across 553 kilometer Indo Pak border in Punjab. Aditya said they had received funds to repair 150 kilometer of border fence in Punjab, the work for which would begin soon. About the recovery of fake Indian currency notes, Aditya said with the quality of fake notes it seems that they were institutionally printed with almost all the security features as that of original notes.
