A mini nuke is like a mini toilet. You will still shit the same amount no matter what the size of the toilet. Mini nukes need as much fissile material (or more) than larger nukes - but they are inefficient and produce a very small bang for the amount of fissile material used.

The actual interception of the missile is going to take place 40 to 50 KMs away. Interception does not happen hundreds of KMs away. So whether the missile flew 2000 KM or 80KM it has nothing to do with validating an interceptor missile. Sometimes it is really difficult for people to understand or they prefer to act this way.
