Pak moots a maritime security agency with India

Islamabad, Sep 29 (PTI) Pakistan has mooted to India the creation of a joint maritime security agency to prevent sea borne terrorist attacks like the one on Mumbai last year that killed 183 people.

The Pakistan navy has suggested the creation of the joint maritime security agency to the government, Naval chief Admiral Noman Bashir told reporters after inaugurating a conference on piracy organised in southern port city of Karachi by the Master Mariners Society of Pakistan.

Replying to a query, Bashir said soon after the Mumbai attacks, the Pakistan Navy had proposed the setting up of the joint maritime force comprising personnel from the two countries. He did not give further details.

The 10 terrorists who carried out the Mumbai attacks travelled by sea from Karachi to the Indian financial hub.

Pakistani investigators have seized the boats that were used by the attackers and are currently searching for their crews

Yes Praveen, we need to be more vigilant in are own backyard and we need to monitor all ships and take none for granted. Usually these ships are heavily disguised but hopefully we are on top of things and we catch them before anything bad happens.

amazing how they keep bringing such ideas? what happened to the "anti terror mechanism". every time india gives proof the people just vanish in thin air instead of being taken in and prosecuted. i guess they want to involve india in such mechanisms just to wash off their invovlement easily.

Does this prevents any attacks like 26/11? I don't think so... Terrorist are the part of Pakistan armed forces.

Should be possible as he movement can be tracked so the coastel security can alert them in case they find them getting near to international waters

They want a closer look at any loopholes to send terrs in. Later they will start shooting us similar to what we see from across the LOC now(ceasefire breach).

Understand guys, the joint patrol ship from that country will carry the terrorists under protection in the name of joint patrol since the IN is now more vigilant.

IIRC Pak hasn't even joined IONS. Why is it floating the idea of a joint maritime security agency when IONS already exists ?
