Artist's impression ... what the species would have looked like
Fossil face ... caveman skull found in China
THIS is the face of a "new species of human" — identified after the fossils of four cavemen were analysed.
The remains, dug up in South China, indicate jutting jaws, short, flat faces and large molar teeth.
They have been dubbed the Red Deer People — after the prey they hunted.
An artist recreated what the species looked like, above, after experts studied skulls and other fossils
Professor Darren Curnoe, of the University of New South Wales, Australia, said: "These new fossils might be of a previously unknown species that survived until the very end of the Ice Age 11,000 years ago."
