Why ? what will you gain by removal of chemical weapons ?
Assuming there are chemical weapons and it was infact Assad who used them. It's also great to see America siding with radical nutjobs, again.

America has little choice but join France in the call to arms. We can't let dictators set a precedent using WMD on their people.

As America's leader the old Obama handed Syria, Russia and Iran and huge victory. Gave it to them on a platter with his vaunting, invincible stupidity. In the process, not only has he shot America in the foot on the world stage but he will have emboldened the Ayatollahs to forge ahead with their nuclear ambitions. He will have encouraged Russia to make a comeback in the region. We will shortly feel these effects in Egypt, Iran and even in Europe.

He has also destroyed himself. It was painful to watch, even to those who had no particular fondness for him. There is always something inexpressibly sad about seeing a great thing die, whether it is a ship, a whale, an enfeebled giant, or a puffed up fantasy. And his "friends", so obsequious in his salad days, were silently tiptoeing toward the door has he self-destructed.

There are scores of Syrians getting bombed and maimed by the hour who would vehemently disagree with you. The humanitarian crisis in Syria is very much a real thing. Assad is a terrible dictator, siphoning off all wealth is one thing; bombing (and possibly gassing) the masses is a different matter altogether. However the real abettor here is Russia. In spite of the turmoil they're blatantly giving him more weapons that he can turn on the civilians; and in collusion with China they have blocked any attempts by the global community to intervene and stop Assad. So yea, if anyone deserves credit it's them.
It's not about how many "scores of Syrians getting bombed and maimed by the hour". It's about the motives of regimes in different countries. US doesn't attack a country just because it's ruler or someone else is killing it's citizens. US and "the global community", whatever it means, has no problem with dictators. US had and is supporting a lot of rulers who don't mind killing their own people. It's only when that ruler stops accepting orders from US that he is turned into a villain who must be taken out.

May I know the source of this chat?
What is the meaning of Chinese oil investment? The amount of money Chinese invested or the volume of oil Chinese imported?
Syria plays a bigger role than Russia in China's oil strategy?
Where is Saudi Arab?
The figures seem not right.

Obama will address the nation tomorrow evening. I will post a link to his speech at that time. The projected votes in the US House of Representatives are overwhelmingly against military action against Syria.

Oil investment means oil assets that China have bought. You want the source. Go do some homework. I made the chart myself after compiling data. This is as of around mid 2012 after a closer look at "Arab spring". You can make a new chart based on latest figures. Won't change heavily though except some more money into kazhak.

Too bad your dumb CCP did not realize till it was too late.

And don't end your dumb post with these don't seem right when you have no clue.

Rebels have also been photographed standing next to Russian and Chinese-made weapons they reportedly confiscated from government soldiers. They've also been photographed with Chinese-made shoulder-launched heat-seeking missiles known as Manpads.

If true, then it sure is a good reason for China to support Syria!

Supplying arms to Syria which have been taken over by the rebels!

That will be the day!

Heard of Battle of the Chosin Reservoir?

Chosin also called Changjin, campaign early in the Korean War, part of the Chinese Second Offensive (November–December 1950) to drive the United Nations out of North Korea. The Chosin Reservoir campaign was directed mainly against the 1st Marine Division of the U.S. X Corps, which had disembarked in eastern North Korea and moved inland in severe winter weather to a mountainous area near the reservoir. The campaign succeeded in forcing the entire X Corps to evacuate to South Korea, but the Chinese did not achieve their particular objective of isolating and destroying the 1st Marine Division. Instead, in a deliberate retrograde movement that has become one of the most-storied exploits in Marine Corps lore, the Marines turned and fought their way down a narrow vulnerable road through several mountain passes and a bridged chasm until they reached transport ships waiting at the coast.

Note: There are no permanent friends, there are only permanent interests!

Events unfolding since the original post of @Energon certainly reflect the political concern over the points he made. The question now is, what will Obama do after he fails to get the approval of the US Congress?

He will sigh a breath of relief since he cannot be blamed for not taking action. even though at the G20 he gave a forceful speech in support of action against Syria.

As it is Britain has paved the way to the issue being buried and it is taken that all is well, even though admittedly there is this show of discomfort and disquiet.

Kerry also later on another occasion stated that the world will not forgive, if the use of chemical weapons that had been outlawed by the international community is not taken cognisance of, and Syria allowed to be off the hook.

A very difficult decision to take.

Take action and be damned. Don't take it and still be damned!

But the biggest issue that will be on the American mind is - will the US get bogged down in another fruitless and haemorrhaging war with no result except draining the exchequer and many being left as widows, orphans, parents without their child?

And Americans care about body bags more than anything else!
