Naxals armoury reloaded with Rambo arrows, rocket bombs: Report
By PTI
RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh Police today claimed that for the first time it had recovered a German-made rifle after an anti-Maoist operation in the state.

The German Heckler and Koch (HK) G-3 rifle was recovered after a May 3 encounter in Sukma district between Maoists and security forces a police officer said.

Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI that the rifle was recovered from the site of an encounter, which took place on May 3 in Putpalli village under the Kistaram police station area.

"This is a G-3 rifle manufactured by the German firm Heckler and Koch. It is the first time this type of weapon has been recovered in Chhattisgarh," Meena said.

He said that the rifle appeared to be a smuggled one.

Two Naxals were killed in this encounter that took place between the ultras and a joint team of the District Reserve Guard and the Special Task Force, the official said.

Deputy Inspector General (South Bastar Range) Sundarraj P told PTI that this weapon looked, at first sight, like a UK-made Self Loading Rifle (SLR) usually used by security forces.

But, closer inspection threw up minute differences, he said.

"We are investigating the antecedents of the weapon and how the Naxals got their hands on it," the DIG said.

Police had also recovered an AK-47 rifle and a 12 bore gun after the encounter, officials said.

Lolz. I was wondering that the rifle in pic didnt look like SLR and resembled some other rifle.
The Pakistani Army standard weapon is H&K G3. That clears out a few things

NIA probe in Hurriyats have not yielded much except the usual filing of FIRs and occasional puchtach. Hope same doesnt happen here too. Btw glaring similarities between ideology of Hurriyats and Naxalite leaders. They send their own children to top institutes while push the poor children into killing fields as cannon fodder.

Separate NIA unit set to
probe funding of Naxalites

Huge amounts paid to fund education of Maoist leaders’ kin

Following reports of Maoist leaders having amassed huge assets in property and cash, the Centre said a separate unit will be created in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for investigating “important” cases of Left Wing Extremism.

A senior Home Ministry official said the government has also set up a multi-disciplinary group to initiate action to choke funding sources of Maoists and to seize assets of their leaders.

Multi-agency group

The group comprises officers from various central agencies and the State police departments, the official said.

It is headed by an additional secretary and has representatives from the Intelligence Bureau, Enforcement Directorate, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, NIA and the CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) and the CBI, as also State intelligence departments and CID, the official added.

The move follows information about a large part of extortion money allegedly collected by Maoists getting diverted towards personal wealth of their leaders, the official said.

Maoists are forcing children to join their squads, but their double standards are exposed by kind of education and other facilities they provide their children and families,” the official said.

Tracking money

According to the official, the LWE movement in the country is financed through a large network of dubious activities, which include illegal levy collected from private contractors including those involved in execution of government works and schemes, mining contractors, transporters and owners of small and medium industries.

Similarly, funds are said to be garnered through collections from illegal stone crushing and distribution of Maoist ideology papers.

Investigations have revealed that one Pradyuman Sharma, member of Bihar-Jharkhand special area committee of the CPI (Maoists) paid ₹22 lakh towards fees for admission of his niece in a private medical college last year.

Another member of the CPI (Maoist), Sandeep Yadav, gave ₹15 lakh for exchange during the demonetisation, the official claimed.

Mr. Yadav’s daughter had studied in a reputed private institute and his son is studying in a private engineering college, the official said.

Similarly, another senior leader Arvind Yadav paid ₹12 lakh towards fees for his brother to study in a private engineering college.

The Enforcement Directorate has registered cases against these four individuals under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, attached properties worth ₹1.5 crore and 32 acres land, seized ₹ 2.45 crore in cash, including ₹1 crore during demonetisation, the official said.

6 Arrested For Allegedly Giving Arms To Maoists From Bengal Gun Factory

Updated : May 07, 2018 19:25 IST

Six people, including two guards and two officers of Rifle Factory Ishapore, 50 kilometres from Kolkata, have been arrested for allegedly giving guns to Maoists, the police said

Kolkata: A 10-year-long racket of supplying guns to Maoists from one of the oldest ordnance factories in the country was busted in West Bengal today, the police said.

Six people, including two guards and two officers of Rifle Factory Ishapore, 50 kilometres from Kolkata, have been arrested for allegedly smuggling out guns to Maoists in India and Nepal and to criminal gangs in Bihar and even terror groups in a racket going on since 2008, the police said. The factory makes INSAS assault rifles for security forces, as well as other sophisticated self-loading rifles.

The police said they have recovered some guns from the accused, who are suspected of having links with Maoists in Nepal. Those who ran the racket also allegedly gave guns to gangs in Bihar and terror groups.

Finished weapons at the factory which were rejected for final use due to defects were smuggled out after repairing them, the police said. To avoid detection, the weapons were dismantled before they were taken out from the factory, the police said.

Some 16 INSAS assault rifles and right self-leading rifles (SLRs) were given to Maoists in earlier consignments, the police said.

The INSAS is a sophisticated assault rifle that the security forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir and the north-east states also use.

On its website, the state-owned gun factory says its origin goes back to 1787, when a marble plaque on the main gate of the factory was installed for setting up a gun powder unit.

Six Maoists gunned down in Odisha.

Kandhamal/Bolangir: In a major victory for Odisha Police, six Maoists were gunned down and a huge cache of explosives seized at separate encounters in Bolangir and Kandhamal on Sunday

While four members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) were killed in Kandhamal , two cadres of the banned outfit were shot dead in Bolangir. In the first incident, security forces killed four Maoist cadres at Sudurukumpa in Kandhamal district. Two of them are believed to be women.

Eight guns including an AK 47 AND Insas rifle were seized during the raid. The encounter was designed following information about a Maoist meeting at the village today, informed sources. The exchange of fire between the Naxals and security personnel was still on when the reports last came in.

In the second incident, two members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) were killed near Dudukamal under Belpada block in Bolangir district. The deceased rebels have been identified as Sanjeeb and Rakesh.

Sanjeeb, a Divisional Committee Member (DCM) carried a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh while Rakesh worked as an Area Committee Member (ACM) and had a bounty of Rs 4 lakh on his head. One AK-47 and Insas rifle, 4 magazines, 24 rounds of live ammunition, a compass and other sharp weapons have been recovered from the spot.

The combing was launched after specific intelligence input about the presence of Maoists cadres in Magur forest under Bender Reserve Forest near Dudukomal area. The operation is being dubbed as a major success even though some rebels managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.

“It is a major success for Odisha police and the operation was meticulously planned. Special action plan is being prepared for similar operations in inaccessible areas,” said DGP RP Sharma.

“The death of these senior cadres will be a big blow to the Maoists The success of the operation will definitely boost the confidence of security forces and people in the area, he added.

On the other hand, fresh Maoists posters surfaced at Kerapadar and Farasara area under Boden police limits in Nuapada district this morning. Signed by the Spokesperson of Mainpur-Nuapada Division of the Maoists, Jayaram, the posters urged people to join hands against atrocities by police in the area.

SP Jagmohan Meena said Senior woman Maoist would get monetary assistance as per the surrender and rehabilitation scheme of the Odisha government. The SP said Senior woman Maoist husband is also planning to surrender soon.
