Sir, all that can be learnt from various sources are that he himself defended his case in a camera trial. There he made a speech defending his action and stated in detail why Gandhi had to be eliminated. The proceedings of that court is censored and not for the public domain.
The judge who delivered his death sentence is said to have remarked that he was of firm belief that if Godse's speech was made public he had not a bit of doubt that the people of India will not only agree with his logic but he would have an overwhelming support in his favour for freeing him. This is all that is known.

If his trial is not part of the public domain, than we don't know what truly transpired behind the scenes and everything else is fictional mythological glorification. If indeed we know his last words in that courtroom, aswell as the judge's remarks; than obviously, the proceedings of that court are not censored.

So what's the truth?

Good question. Much of what happened to him after his arrest is obscure and unknown. In the past six decades the Governments both Congress and non-Congress ones have systematically tried to censor information about Godse. It is not specifically known when exactly this letter was leaked by which exact book. However you can take this letter to be authentic because the same has been cited in various websites, some which praise Gandhi.
However, it is in our interest to let the truth be known and you are encouraged to disprove the authenticity of this letter if it is indeed so.
