Mandya: ABVP Activists Stop Train, Hands Over Bangladeshis to Police
Around 100 suspected illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been arrested in Mandya yesterday. They were travelling in the Kannur-Yashwanthapur Express. The arrest came following an alert sounded by members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, who were also travelling in the same train. Police have also found narotic-analgesic drugs including opium and hallucinogens like ganja from these Infiltrators.
The immigrants who were travelling in the Mysore bound train, aroused the suspicion of the ABVP members. They promptly alerted their Mandya unit, who immediately swung into action. At around 8.30 pm, members of the Mandya unit gathered at the railway station and forced the Bangladeshis to alight the train. They were promptly handed over to police.
The team that successfully arrested the infiltrators was headed by DYSP Channabasappa. Around 120 Banglas were arrested, while around 50 to 75 infiltrators managed to flee. Police are on the look out for these people. The arrested are being questioned by both Railway Police and Law& Order Police of Mandya.
