Well Said Mikesingh, i thought some Hardcore RW would unfurl his Bhagwa Clad nationalism and pounce on me. As you said china is rutheless in its agenda , hence its able to pursue its goals in the time frame they have set, but if India has to be anywhere close to China then with a democratic structure like ours it will take us a hell of a lot time . we have to reach a minimum of 6 - 7 trillion dollar economy within the next 10 yrs if we have to have anything close to a level playing field with China. or else keep dreaming about Dholera and have wet dreams about GIFT.

You gotta give it to the chinese they have transformed their economy and is ushering in the newyear with improved GDP rating. It dedicates so much money to its infrastructure, education , health, R&D and many more . Executes the project with alarming efficiency no wonder Chinese are a force to reckon with.

Our softpower will have its positivities culturaly i suppose, but it shall no where help us in our economy and bring in best practices of Urban development. Projects in india meaders aimlessly and takes ages to be completed, we are loosing several points on that front and our politicians dont care a rats ass to improve our situation.
They are ruthless because they are autocratic. You talk about infra, health, etc, do you know of the existing ghost cities? You talk about transformation of their economy, but don't realize that their economy can crash almost anyday.
Yes, we might be a smaller economy, but atleast our economy won't crash, and is much more stable in the longer run.

Read this about the Chinese economy - http://nationalinterest.org/feature/mountain-debt-chinas-economy-going-crash-19770

Our politician's will start caring when people start caring, until then as you said, they will give a rat's ass.

You must also take this into consideration that everyone outside of China only knows only what CCP wants them to know. There is only one source of information, there is no alternative source like free media.

The real question is whether their growth is sustainable growth, we will know about it only in next decade.

It must be said they have managed well so far, they jumped over minor hiccups like stick market crash of 2014.

Yes ghost Cities are present in it i have seen and read a bit about them , but it is not as if half of chinese urban centres are ghost cities. it certainly is not true.

As for economy https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ake-u-s-economy-by-2032-as-asian-might-builds

Since our debt's are not rising to level of china's cannot be the only argument to say that our economy wont crash. as you presume we may be safe for now, but when are we gonna embrace infrastructure as a faster mode for bring in investments.

Sagarmala , port development, DMIC , DFC all wonderful projects but execution is zilch, if we aren't ruthless in executing them , we can never succeed in becoming a developed country. there has to be some sort of mechanism where democratic compulsions are not hindering the execution of projects.

Agreed. Our economy won't crash because our economy is inherently more mature. Infrastructure development and investment is on a rise. They were not given much importance previously, but now things have changed for the better. All I can say is things are speeding up.

The playing field may never become level because by the time we become a 6-7 trillion dollar economy, the Chinese would have raced ahead to become a 18 -20 trillion dollar economy and fast catching up with the US of A!

The bottom line is that we can never catch up with the Chinese, unless of course they go bust!

The Chinese economy, as it grows larger, will slow down. China has other problems too like debt, large loss making PSUs, declining TFRs which we don't.
OTOH IMO we have just started.

Remember 'Narmada bachao Andolan' in Gujarat ?? Such thing can happen in democratic india where a bollyb!mbo can sit on 'Dharna' without knowing anything.
Not possible in China. Neither Jackie Chan nor Jet Li can utter a single word against their Gov.

So one can stop comparing India's progress with China's.

It's even possible in democracy like India too, If ppl become cooperative like "Modi era Gujrat" we might give china a competition but still we can't give them similar compitition....But Chinese have thrice of land area of us and plenty of opportunity in Xinjiang and Monchuria to expand the infrastructure.
Also our urban development shouldn't need to follow a blind race. Our need should be self sufficiency , planned city can developed later based on future demand .

As u rightly pointed out that our project takes tons of time ,but tahts due to unclear labour law , land law etc..Modi govt if successfully implement modern and more clear version of these law , we could expect more punctual Indian projects...

This project looks like a sci-fi city of the future! Check out the video below.

Dholera SIR is among the eight industrial regions planned in the first phase of the DMIC project.

The entire project covers an area of approximately 920 sq km and is a node strategically located near the industrial cities of Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat and Bhavnagar.

Since the entire trunk infrastructure cannot be implemented in one go, a phased approach has been adopted for the project and an Activation Area of 22.5 sq km has been identified which would act as catalyst for further investments and will provide a base for taking up development of the remaining area.

Monthly review meetings are being conducted at the highest level to ensure that the project issues are proactively addressed and the project completed ahead of schedule.

PDC has not been mentioned. Completion probably by 2020-22.
Wow...Never heard of that project...So proud that Modi is our PM...who can think big for ppl and country .o
BTW ...is this kalpasar project similar to Dutch Isselmar lake ?

Today Narmada is a 'Jivadori' ( lifeline ) for many cities in Gujarat, and it has come to rescue a dead river Sabarmati in Ahmedabad city.
